My Experience
My interest in working with children began as a young teenager when I got involved in teaching gymnastics at my local club. My passion grew from there and I progressed through my qualifications in Children’s Care and Learning Development while gaining hands on experience working in a private nursery with children from 12 weeks - 5 years. In 2012, I was promoted to Roomleader of the 2-3 year old where I spent 2 years managing the day to day requirements and developing longer term plans for the room, staff and children. My experience in nursery has shaped the caring, nurturing and passionate person I am today.
My nanny experience began in 2014 with a family of 3 young children. I was with them for almost 5.5 years until their littlest one started school. I quickly realised that being a nanny was hard work but also one of the most humbling and rewarding “jobs” I’ve ever had. I say that because nannying doesn’t always feel like a job when I enjoy it so much. From 2019, I’ve worked with two families where both mums were returning to work and I still support their families. Not only do I love caring for babies and children, I feel passionate about making this an easier transition for parents and supporting them as much as I can.
I am proud to say that during the first lockdown of 2020 due to Coronavirus, I supported a family where both parents are key workers. Since the pandemic began I have taken every precaution necessary to keep my families and myself safe and continue to provide reassurance to children in my care.
My other experience includes being a party host for children’s entertainment company, Song & Dance Factory for 4 years. In between working at nursery or nannying, this was a pretty fun job and kept me in shape with the high energy dancing and games we played!
I’m also proud to say that I’ve been running my own business since 2015 - The Event Nanny. I provide a bespoke childcare service for children at weddings and events throughout Scotland.
