Hi my name is Denise McGinlay ive been married 39 years to my husband Gordon. Previously I was a registered nurse but gave up to have my own children then started work as a childminder.
I have been a qualified childminder for the past 27 years.
I am registered with the care Inspectorate and on my most recent inspection was graded Excellent and Very Good.
I featured in both the care commission news and scma magazine to highlight good practice.

All children have their own unique care plan with activities planned round their needs and interest, in line with the curriculum for excellence and pre birth to three alongside realising the ambition the Girfecc approach and the shanarri wellbing indicators. Our approch is child centred it ensures that your child and family will be at the centre of, and included in decision including in all aspects of your childs care. Each child is unique and there is no set level of wellbeing that children should achieve. Wellbeing is influenced by children’s individual experiences and changing needs as they grow.

I have a dedicated spacious playroom for the children and also a large spacious secure garden. With parental permission outdoor play features highly in my curriculum as I am a back to nature setting, with local outings each week to allow children to engage with nature.
My ethos is to adopt a curiosity approch and I am gradually replacing a percentage of our toys with loose parts.
This is a modern day Approach bringing curiosity, awe and wonder into childhood & creating thinkers and doers. I aim to provide an environment with a wealth of large and small open-ended resources, which allow children to be the directors of their own play. An open-ended resource is something that can be used in a multitude of ways. it has no fixed purpose. We like to find a balance between traditional toys, authentic resources and loose parts.

I have two children and three grandchildren.

I can provided excellent references from the care inspectorate, parents and children in my care. I can provide parents details to contact them for reference (with their permission). I obtain most of my families through word of mouth. My continued success is through ensuring that each child and family is treated as individuals and my service is tailored around their needs to ensure that children feel respected, important and cared for in my setting.
