My Summary
About Me
CURRENTLY EMPLOYED
Hello! My name is Emy.
I am a very fun nanny (you can ask my 14 year old friend who I looked after from 6 months to 6 years who I still have fun with now) but am also a very firm believer that good manners make everyone happier. I love being outdoors whatever the weather but when we're inside my favourite things are books, puzzles, art and (since a recent job was with two vehicle mad boys) playing with cars!
My Experience
I have been working with babies and preschool children since 2009. Initially I was working in a Montessori nursery and in 2010 made the transition into nannying so that I could provide a more consistent form of childcare and to create a more solid career base because I love this job!! Over the years I have gained experience with children from newborns to school age and this range continues to grow as the children who have been with me the longest grow also (longest being 6 years). I have taken and continue to take various courses to ground and broaden my ability to look after children.
Having worked in home based childcare for a long time I am able to confidently and independently schedule for children from 6 months to 7 years.
I am experienced in all aspects of caring for babies and young children including weaning, both traditional and baby led, and potty training.
Having worked with children who have a broad range of interests I am as comfortable with arts and crafts as I am going to kick a ball around in the park. I am passionate about the importance of reading and music so love to enjoy books and sing nursery rhymes with children.
I always enjoy finding new ways to build bonds and forms of communication with children. Through use of makaton and studying body language over the years I have come to consider this a strength. Having worked with bilingual children from before they were verbal through the time where they were discovering both languages this has proved to be a real asset.
My Qualifications
I have completed all necessary qualifications and background checks to become an Ofsted child minder. I hold a current paediatric first aid certificate. I have been to several CPD short courses including Making it better for boys, safeguarding courses and council run workshops on current childcare legislation. I also hold a NVQ in early childcare
