About Me

*I currently have a full time nanny position but am available for occasional babysitting.

My name is Becky and I live in Shirehampton with my husband and two young children. My son is in school but i do have a daughter (dob-february 2022) who i would like to bring to work with me, she would be a lovely playmate for your child/children. I have done this previously with my now 5 year old and it worked really well.

I have a lot of experience in childcare, including a degree in Early Childhood Studies and over 15 years experience working in a variety of childcare settings. I have worked in nurseries and schools, on Disney Cruise line and as a nanny abroad and in the UK. I am bubbly with a lot of energy and am enthusiastic about being a reliable nurturing figure to any child in my care. I can drive and have my own transport.
I enjoy exploring the outdoors rain or shine with the children, taking part in craft activities and baking. Due to having children myself I have newborn experience and understand what it's like to run a busy household!

If you require someone to care for your child/children please do not hesitate to contact me.

Reference from previous employer:

Becky has been looking after my 3 children for the last 18 months and is a highly recommended nanny, we are sorry to lose her as the twins start school. She is incredibly caring, reliable, with a strong work ethic and has absolute understanding of children and their needs. She is fun but sets clear boundaries, loves being outside with the children, teaches through craft and play and cooks lovely healthy meals for the kids and is respectful in the family home.

My Experience

08/2003-09/2003 – Bude, Cornwall holiday club. (paid)

I worked as a one to one for a 13 year old girl with Special Educational Needs. My role was to encourage her independence whilst supporting her to engage fully in activities as required. I found the job very demanding but also extremely rewarding.

09/2004-03/2005 – Bude Junior School special needs unit (voluntary work)

During my year out before University I volunteered one day a week in the special needs unit at my local school. The children were aged 7-10 years old with a range of special education needs including autism. I really enjoyed it at the school and developed an interest in working with children with special educational needs.

01/2008- 06/2008 – Fairfield’s school (voluntary work)

Following a two week university placement at a special school I continued to work at the school on a voluntary basis. My role in the classroom was to help support the children with their work and play. In order to communicate with the children I learnt Makaton signing, which is a multi-modal language programme for children and adults with communication difficulties.

10//2005-11/2007 - University placements

Throughout my three years at University studying Early Childhood Studies BA Hons degree I completed a range of placements at early years settings. The placements included a nursery for children aged eight months to five years, the reception class in a primary school and two special schools for children from five years to ten years with a range of special educational needs. When on placement my role was to complete certain tasks set by the University whilst supporting the children and staff. Each placement provided me with opportunities to develop my skills as an early years practitioner, I particularly benefited from the challenge of working with children with special educational needs. I found this work very fulfilling. Going on placements also enabled me to improve my communication skills with both setting staff and my peers.

08/2008-06/2009 Youth Activity counsellor – Disney Cruise line, Florida

For a total of ten months I worked for Disney Cruise Line as a Youth Activity Counsellor, part of a team of around fifty youth activity counsellors, looking after children aged two and a half to twelve years. My responsibilities as a counsellor involved planning activities and providing a safe and friendly environment for children to come and play. I later became an age anchor, this challenged my abilities to manage staff and keep up to a hundred children secure and engaged in exciting activities. This position required me to work seven days a week, ten hours a day for the whole of my four to five month contract.

09/2009-03/2010 – Au-pair – Australia

For six and a half months I lived with and worked for a family in Australia. My role was to care for the children in the morning and get them ready for day care and kindergarten then look after them when they got back before their mother returned from work.

09/2010- 16/09/11- Deputy Manager- Seahorses Nursery, Bude (maternity cover)

Seahorses is a fifty place day nursery caring for babies and children from three months to three years. There are a staff of twelve nursery workers, Deputy and Manager.

My position in the nursery was as Deputy Manager and group supervisor with ten key children, I was also the SENCO. A major part of my role was to deputize for the manager who is part time. This entails ensuring the nursery runs smoothly. My duties included talking to parents, ensuring we were staffed according to regulations, planning following the EYFS, Safeguarding issues and all the day to day responsibilities of running a large day nursery.

01/2012 - 09/2012 - Nanny- Kilkhampton, Cornwall

I cared for two children under the age of two years whilst their parents were working. I took them on outings to the beach, park and play centres and also cared for them in their home.

09/2013- 07/2014- Mama Bears day Nursery, Bristol

I worked at Mama Bears Nursery based in the under two year old room working as a key person organizing a variety of activities and working as part of a team.

07/2014 – 11/2015 – Nanny on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday For just over a year I was sole charge for 3 year old twins and their 6 year old brother. Once the twins started school I was no longer required.

01/2015 – 2021 – Nanny on Monday and Tuesday
Until i went on maternity leave in 2017 I was a nanny for one child on Monday and Tuesday who was 3years old, I attended toddler groups, visited the park, zoo and organized other activities such as baking and arts and crafts.
I returned to this family after maternity leave on monday-Wednesday caring for their youngest who is the same age as my son, as well as doing before and after school for the now 6 year old.

01/03/2016 - 28/02/2017 - Nanny for two children twice a week aged 7 months and 3 years when the job commenced.

01/04/2021 - 31/01/2022 nanny to 3 children, one of school age and 2 under 4 years old. I attended play groups, forest school, parks and planned activities at home. I also prepared meals and did some housework like hanging washing up and tidying up at the end of the day.
