Little Chickens Childminding
I live in Rhosllanerchrugog, with my husband, and our three sons, and daughter aged 20yrs, 10yrs, 8yrs, and 18yrs old, I have been a registered childminder with the CIW since July 2010, and a member of, and insured by PACEY. I am a Hygge Early Years Accredited setting.
I offer a Hygge Accredited, home based, nurturing childcare with a family atmosphere, to allow children to feel safe, cared for, to learn and develop, and importantly have fun. I can care for babies from 6 weeks old, and primarily care for children up to the age of 5yrs.
We live in a detached house at the end of a private lane. There is a safe secure wildlife friendly garden with a climbing frame, slide and swings, large loose parts, a mud kitchen, plus a garden room with more opportunities for play and rest.
Inside there is a separate playroom full of age appropriate recreational and educational toys, this is linked to the kitchen and dining space where we eat meals and have more room for play. A front room for nap time, and a cloakroom toilet downstairs.
We have one small dog, which is very used to young children, but during the childminding day he is kept separate from children, or fully supervised. We also have chickens and runner ducks, they have an area away from where the children play. They are very popular with the children, who love feeding them. There are also four cats who love getting involved with the children's play and getting cuddles.
We are a vegetarian household, but will be happy to accept any non-vegetarian parent prepared foods, if a parent prefers.
We are an English speaking family, with a very basic knowledge of the Welsh language.

My Availability
My opening hours are 0800 to 1700.
Space for an under 3yr old becoming available in September on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
Happy to accept term time only.
Fees are inclusive of lunch, snacks, milk and unlimited drinks.
I'm registered for the Childcare element of the Childcare Offer Wales for children over 3yrs old.

My son has just started nursery at school after spending 3 wonderful years being looked after by Vicky and her lovely family. I cannot speak highly enough about all aspects of care provided by Vicky, she really takes the time to get to know your child and makes everything fun. My son has been treated like an extended member of their family right from his first day and lovingly calls her 'minky', he gets very excited if we see a car similar to hers and says that 'his minky' has that car! Vickys children are absolutely fantastic and love to play games and interact with children of all ages, her youngest boys have become my sons two best friends. This is a real home from home setting, Vicky packs so much into their time, baking, messy play, trips out, drawing, he always has so much fun. He loves all the pets and has learnt so much about animals. Vicky makes learning fun and my son has learnt so much from her. Lunch is always something tasty and fresh and she has a real skill in getting even the fussiest child to try new foods! Vicky is an absolute credit to her profession, she genuinely cares about the children she looks after and I felt so happy knowing my son was being looked after by such a wonderful lady and her amazing family, I cannot recommend enough! :)

My son was minded by Vicky from a young age and grew up with her as one of her own. On many occassions it was a struggle to get him to say goodbye to come home as he was having far to much fun with all the minded and Vickys children. The setting is full of SO MANY activities, enjoyment and vicky is very much like mother earth in creating things for the children to get involved with and experience ( Playing in jelly and coloured pasta!!) Things that if Im honest would not be experienced at home. The one aspect of the service was that the setting had animals which is always a big hit with the children and being able to hold a chick would normally involve a day out. The food provided was fantastic as vicky offers new and exciting food to the children which again is not the case at home. This helped us with our son willingly trying new food. With all that is offered it made my desision to return to work so much easier!!!! Thank you xxx

Overall
Our baby girl and toddler boy both benefited greatly from attending Little Chickens Childminding. Their needs were well met and most importantly, they were both looked after as one of the family, playing and having fun with Vicky's children and animals. Vicky is extremely diligent in her attention to each child's personal, emotional and learning needs, and my little boy in particular flourished under her care. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

My son spent a year with Vicky and he enjoyed every single day! Vicky provides a loving environment and lots of fun activities. He came home with a daily diary which I appreciated very much. Vicky is very welcoming and always had time for us. My son loved all the animals! It is a safe, secure and loving environment :)

My son loved this child care placement. There were lots and lots of different toys to play with, and they all had batteries that worked ( a treat as at home we tend to run out of batteries all the time)!!! He enjoyed painting, and doing other arts and crafts activities. He learnt nursery rhymes and would come home singing them.
This is an ideal placement prior to starting full time nursery in school! Aas Vicky did lots of activities that would be done in a school setting.
My son is the youngest of 3 boys, so he loved it when Vickys son came home from school and he could get some more rough play with an older child.
I also loved the report Vicky wrote on a daily basis, they were very comprehensive and I would gets lots of enjoyment reading all the funny things he had done or said during the day, as well as reading what he had eaten and how much sleep he had had.
All in all a very nice, safe and secure environment for children to be placed in.
