About Me
With a very heavy heart, due to family commitments, I will be retiring from being a childminder in the New Year. For this reason I will NOT be enrolling anymore children into my care. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all parents that have read my profile and/ or messaged me over the years. It’s thanks to you my past 20 years has been filled with fun and laughter from so many children!!!!My name is Candy and I live in a pleasant area of Hockley close to all local amenities, with my husband and 22years old granddaughter.I have 3 adult children and 4 adorable grandchildren. My granddaughter, Chloe, now works along side me as my assistant.
I have been an OFSTED registered childminder for 20years now and have always gained a GOOD in my inspections.
I am a member of the National Childminding Association, hold full public liability Insurance and all my family members have been CRB checked.
I love my job and get great satisfaction in watching the children I care for grow and flourish both socially and educationally, while feeling happy, safe and loved in my home from home setting.
I'm a great believer in forming good relationships with my parents and working together .
I have a secure garden, well equipped for all ages. Providing many sit and ride toys, a sandpit, water play, wendy house, trampoline with enclosure , skipping ropes, balls etc.
I provide a wide range of toys, books and activities for all ages to help each child to learn through play and reach their own personal goals and full potential.
Every child is unique and I believe children should be treated with respect and that they learn from positive role models.
We frequently visit local parks, woods, the library, outdoor areas and soft play areas, walking to these destinations, getting lots of fresh air and learning to understand our world around us. Going on outings further a field, travelling by car or using public transport, gaining different experiences.
I also attend different toddler groups and jo jingles, helping to develop good social skills.
I do believe in some old fashion values such as manners and sitting together at the table for meals. I am very aware talking to children from birth upwards plays a major part in their development.
My downstairs cloakroom gives easy access to hand washing facilities and encourages the younger children to become gradually more independent once potty trained.
I aim to help the younger children to become confident and independent with simple tasks such as putting their own shoes and coat on, learning to cope with zips and buttons, ready for their next step of starting school.
I am very competent at caring for children of all ages.
I provide a well balanced diet and drinks throughout the day for the children.
My aim is to provide a happy, safe and fun environment for every child in my care!!
My 7 seater Galaxy is factory fitted with children's booster/ 5 point harnessed infant seat.
My Experience
I have a lot of hands on experience. From the age of 14 I babysat various children. I went on to work for Thomsons holidays as a children's rep until I had my own family.
I worked in a playgroup,when my family were young, eventually taking the position as supervisor.
Bringing up my own children faced me with challenges. my youngest son having dyslexia and my daughter suffering from fits on a daily basis during her teenage years.
I helped out at the local school my children used to attend.
I have much experience in caring for children who suffer from seizures, Asthma, Allergies, learning/ physical disabilities.
Since becoming a childminder 20years ago I have taken care of children aged between birth to teens.
Chloe also has experience working with children and has first hand experience of working one to one with children with special needs. She has grown up within my childminding setting,and has adopted my calm aura and patience with the children. She has always babysat for various families since becoming 16. Chloe worked in a day nursery for 18 months before she decided to come and work with me. She is a very likable person and the children find her very approachable. She has become a great asset to my setting offering her caring and understanding of children,along with her energy and youthful ideas which compliments my years of experience and knowledge, its a great combination.

Cache level 3 in child minding practice.
Food safety level 2
An introduction to children diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder
Supporting children with speech, Language and communication needs

My Availability
I'm available Monday to Friday, full or part time hours. I try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate individual requirements.
I do the school run to Hockley primary school and I'm very happy to take and pick up from any of the local play groups. I also attend toddler groups and Jo jingles

Candy and Chloe are wonderful people and have given our little boy such confidence and skills. He went to them on his 1st birthday for 5 days a week 7-430pm. They have really shaped his second year in a very positive way. He settled in quickly with some days in advance of full time. He is always excited to see these kind and caring ladies and the other children and has formed a strong bond with them and the other children in their care. He has enjoyed trips to the farm and sea life centre, colouring and drawing and lots of playing! He has learnt boundaries and manners e.g. how to share and say sorry. It pleasantly surprises me to see him do little things they have taught him - I’m grateful for their conscientious approach to building my little lad into a nice young man! Candy and Chloe have been a great support to us as a couple in our early parenthood, reassuring and communicating always. For all they’ve given us as a family we love them both very much - what higher recommendation can we give!

My daughter started going to Candy just over 2 years ago when she was 11 months old. She was extremely clingy and very distressed to start with leaving mummy. However Candy was amazing! She let us settle in about a month earlier than usual and very gradually. She kept me updated all of the time on how she was. Putting your trust in someone to look after your children is so difficult but I can safely say I know that my daughter is looked after by a kind, caring, safe environment as well as being taught day to day lessons on manners and compassion. She loves going to "Nanny" Candys house and has made some lovely friends. She has had some lovely days out including pottery painting, woods walks and park trips. Candy is very approachable. Brilliant communication with parents. And is always willing to help! I couldn't praise her highly enough!

My daughter has now been with Candy for 2 years, she has come on leaps and bounds.
I love the old fashioned way Candy is with the children and my daughter absolutely adores her, she can’t wait to go round there and has made some lovely friends there too.
Candy is extremely patient, she does lots with them and is very accommodating if there has ever been a problem.
I enjoy seeing the videos and photos, the children always look like they’re having the time of their lives and Candy is always great in communication.
I am so pleased I chose Candy to look after my daughter, she feels more than just a childminder and I already have my newborn signed up for when I go back to work, I wouldn’t want my children to go to anyone else.

We have always found Candy to be very helpful, understanding and good at what she does. We both felt comfortable leaving our son with Candy from a young age. Candy is always responsive and approachable and has provided any advice when we have asked. We are very happy with the care Candy provides and believe it is above and beyond what is expected.

My daughter has been with nanny candi now since 6 months old, she has now hit the apparent terrible twos, and yet she couldn't be a more content and happy little girl and I owe a lot of this to the superb child care she gets from her nanny candi. She loves going to nanny candi, always throws her arms out even when she's been dropped off at a very early time and I can walk away and go to work knowing my little girl is very happy to be there.
Nanny candi offers a home from home and I can't recommend her enough, my daughter is thriving in every aspect and again I owe alot of this to the wonderful care she receives.
