About Me
I live in Norden area of Rochdale with my husband and 2 children. I studied at Leeds Metropolitan University and have a degree in Psychology. Whilst studying this subject I took a particular interest in child development.
On leaving University I worked as a support worker for troubled teenagers in care. After a year I decided I wanted to gain experience working with younger children and got a job in a private day nursery. Here, I gained my NVQ level 2 and 3 in Children's care, Learning and Development.
After working here for 4 years, I decided I wanted to venture out on my own and set up my own business, and so Nicola's Cheeky Monkeys was born!
I am registered with Ofsted and hold public liabilty insurance. My home is located on a quiet cul de sac with minimal traffic in the Norden area of Rochdale. I hold a full driving license and often take the children out on visits to parks, soft play centres and sessions at the local Sure Start Centre.
I provide a wide range of activities , both adult led and child initiated, that include imaginative, small world and messy activities, such as sand play and arts and crafts.
I offer healthy snacks mid morning and mid afternoon consisting of fruit and vegetables and fresh drinking water is always available throughout the day for the children. I also provide 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and a snack tea (lunch consists of a fresh home cooked meal).
My Experience
I worked in a private day nursery for nearly 4 years, gaining experience working with children under 5 years old. From here I have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and experience of providing activities, both adult led and child initiated, to help progress children through the areas of learning of the framework, and to enable them to achieve their full potential.
My Qualifications
- A degree in Psychology.
- NVQ level 2 and 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.
- Paediatric first aid and food hygiene (updated every 3 years).
- Child protection.
