About Me

Hello, my name is Sinead and I'm 21. I graduated from the University of Exeter in July with a 2.1 in 'Childhood and Youth Studies' which involved various aspects of childhood and childcare. Over the last 3 years I've been studying child welfare policies, child development, international perspectives of childhood and various other areas.

I've moved back in with my parents since graduating in West Byfleet, and am currently working at FedEx early in the mornings (7-11am!). I'd like to find some other babysitting work for the evenings (and occasionally afternoons) while I'm applying for other full time jobs - the job market is tough at the moment so this is the perfect solution!

I'm lively, enthusiastic and fun, yet I believe that I still maintain a sense of authority with children. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

My Experience

I have done a large amount of babysitting before and can provide a number of references.

My previous job at University was at CEDA - an after school club/Saturday club for children with special needs ranging from ADHD and autism to severe physical disabilities. As a result I am very experienced with all sorts of disabilities and am familiar with dealing with challenging behaviour.

I also used to work at 'Stagecoach' - a theatre company for children, where I helped teach 3 - 6 year olds dancing, singing and drama on a Saturday morning. This involved lots of responsibility and hard work as I was looking after around 20 children at once and had to maintain authority as well as make the classes fun and beneficial for the children.

I did work experience at the Marist school in West Byfleet for a week where I was placed with the year 2 class. I thoroughly enjoyed this and had great fun with a number of the children. I created a good balance in which the children respected my authority yet still enjoyed playing with me at breaktimes and frequently asked me to help them with their work.

In Upper Sixth at College in small groups we taught a year 5 class at St Georges College Junior School lessons in RE. We designed the lessons ourselves and had to come up with various ideas to keep the children interested yet educated at the same time, such as a board game with questions about what we had been learning.

My Qualifications

I achieved a 2.1 from the University of Exeter in 'BA Childhood and Youth Studies'

I studied at St Georges College in Weybridge for over 10 years.

I have 3 A2 levels in Theatre Studies, English Literature and Business Studies, all three of which are A grades.

I have 2 AS levels in Politics and Critical Thinking, both B grades.

I have 10 GCSE's, 5 A*s and 5 As.

I have regular CRB checks due to the nature of my course at University.

I have qualifications in safeguarding children (level 2) and physical interventions that I obtained whilst working at CEDA in Exeter.

My Availability

I am currently living in West Byfleet and am working from 7am-11am on weekdays at FedEx so morning school runs are not possible for me. However I am available most evenings (and some afternoons) when notice is given. Contact me for further information.

I can drive so I can provide my own transport to and from the job.

My Fees

I would be willing to discuss fees with the client as it depends on the number of children, the number of hours, and the distance to the job as to how much the fee would be.
