My name is Alexandra Das, married with two grown up children.
Since January 2016, I am working as an Ofsted Registered Childminder in Berkhamsted.
My last Ofsted inspection was in May 2023. There were three children present at the time of the inspection (after school).You can read the full report online on the government website.
I have completed childcare training, both in The Netherlands and in the UK, and I am a member of PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
In the past I worked as a teacher in Amsterdam. My job was teaching Dutch as a second language to adults.
My services include:
- Childminding wraparound care (before and after school from 11.30 am).
- Dropping off and collection from Swing Gate Infant School and Nursery and Thomas Coram School.
Our house is situated close to Swing Gate Primary School and Thomas Coram School in Berkhamsted.
The children have access to a fully enclosed large rear garden, equipped with a wide selection of outdoor toys. We have a wooden climbing frame with slide, swing, balance beam, stepping stones, playhouse, large trampoline, maze with wild flowers, play bark, large chalkboard, shuffle board, water table, football and hockey equipment, dart board, ball games, hopscotch mat, giant outdoor board games, etc.
Our garden has been re-landscaped and adapted to the needs of younger and older children.
We also have a dedicated playroom (currently being extended) with a wide range of toys, books, audio equipment and a separate corner in the living room for craft, drawing, writing and IT-activities.
Our premises are inspected by Ofsted and are safe for children aged 3 and over.
Note: we have three (friendly) cats.
My aim: the children in my care feel happy, safe and listened to. They are learning lots of new skills as they play and explore indoors and outdoors.
I have (personal) experience with gluten, nut and dairy free diets and I have completed a certified nutrition course which gives me the tools to prepare healthy snacks and meals.

My Experience
As a mother of two I have of course lots of experience with children. Apart from being a mum to my son and daughter, I have always helped out in their schools when they were little.
When I was at university I used to work for a 'student babysitting service' in Amsterdam: a job I really enjoyed!

Childminding wraparound care: Monday to Friday before and after school (from 7.30 am till drop off at school and from 11.30 am till collection by parents).

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
- Babysitting from £9.00 per hour
- Rates childminding: £6.50 per hour (incl. drinks, snacks, craft materials, paperwork, petrol).
- Childminding one to one: £8.50 per hour.
Meals: breakfast £1, lunch, £2, tea £2.
Babysitting: £9 per hour.

Alexandra has been amazing. Our daughter started with her after a bad experience with another childminder and so we were quite worried. We needn't have been - Alexandra is thoughtful, caring and treats each child as an individual. Her set up is great - she has many toys and games and carefully plans activities with a fun educational thread. She's also great with parents! I can't recommend her highly enough - we are so pleased we found her.
