About Us

Rainbow House was founded in August 2006 by Indra; an individual with a long history of care in
the community, having worked for the London Borough of Camden and raising three of her own
children in the Belsize Park community since 1978.

In partnership with the parents, Rainbow House has successfully nurtured over 150 children, who
leave their Rainbow House confident, fun loving and demonstrating care for their friends,
community and environment. A significant number of Rainbow House children remain in touch
with their ‘home away from home’, with the founding child, who is now 16 years old and his two
brothers, frequent visitors to the setting. Simply put, every child that enters Rainbow House leaves
their own ‘colour’ that forms the vibrant tapestry that continues to be added to by the children that
attend today.

We are not a childminding service. What you get is the intimacy of a childminder with the
nurture and development of a nursery. Our primary focus is the well-being of your child and
ensuring that their settling in at Rainbow House is a joyful experience – a home away from home.
Daily, we have between 10-14 children, aged from 6 months to 5 years old and we employ 4 Early
Years Practitioners plus the owner, so our ratio is well above the minimum 1:3.

We are open throughout the year, closed only during the following periods:

• Public Holidays
• Easter Weekend (up to 6 days)
• 2 weeks prior to the August Public Holiday (10 days)
• 2 weeks over Christmas (up to 12 days)

Our fees are based on a calendar month (except the first and last months, which are based on the
start/end dates) and are paid in advance. We accept payment through the Tax-Free Childcare
account. For 2022, we will be starting to implement the statutory 15 hours and Extended offers for
3- and 4-year-old, for parents who have an entitlement. Current fees are on an accompanying
note.
