About Us

Tiny Talkers is a small, friendly day care provider, offering the highest possible standards of care and education within a fun, stimulating and homely environment.
At Tiny Talkers we believe that all children are unique and we follow children's interest for activities and planning. We are working towards being a more Reggio inspired nursery.

We also put communication at the heart of everything that we do. We understand that communication is fundamental to every child’s development, and is the key to confidence and independence. Our highly trained staff provide the right environment to ensure that all children have the opportunity to become confident and competent communicators.

We are pleased to say that the majority of our day to day business comes through recommendations from our existing customer base. We strive to create a trusting bond between our staff and the children in their care and this important bond also applies to the parents who put their child into our specialist care for any of the services we provide. We welcome all feedback from our customers and continually look to improve our service wherever possible.

So let us start with a story…

Reggio Emilia's hope for change

Italy - May 2, 1945. Two days after the collapse of Berlin, the German forces surrendered to the Allies, leaving the war-torn cities in the province of Emilia Romagna devastated in the wake of the destruction of World War II. During aftermath of WWII, the people of Italy were left to rebuild their lives from the wreckage.
The people of Reggio Emilia, a small Italian city in the region of Emilia Romagna, set about rebuilding their lives and reconstructing their society, With a small amount of money sourced from the selling of a tank, three trucks, and a few horses from the war, and with land contributed by a local farmer and building materials from bombed-out buildings, local men and women of all ages built the first post-war school for young children in the village of Villa Cella, seven kilometres from Reggio Emilia

Loris Malaguzzi, a local primary school teacher, was determined to help build a better future for the children and families of Reggio Emilia. In hearing about Villa Cella, Malaguzzi went to find out more about this preschool project built by the hands of the people. Inspired to learn more about very young children, he then trained as a psychologist and became a leader in the parent cooperative movement, supporting parents, families and teachers in the education of their young children.

Loris Malaguzzi, was an influential and inspirational figure behind this new educational movement and the development of the Reggio Emilia approach. He believed passionately that all children are competent and capable thinkers and learners as well as creative communicators and conversationalists.
Malaguzzi wrote 'The One Hundred Languages of Children' in recognition of the multitude of ways in which they can express their ideas, thoughts, feelings or frustrations. The possibilities for the 'languages' are endless - dancing, dreaming, playing, questioning, singing, reasoning, imagining, listening, laughing, crying, loving, hating, painting, sculpting, exploring, experimenting.

THE ONE HUNDRED LANGUAGES OF CHILDREN
The child is made of one hundred.
The child has a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking.
A hundred always, a hundred ways of listening, of marvelling, of loving, a hundred joys for singing and understanding, a hundred worlds to discover, a hundred worlds to invent, a hundred worlds to dream.
The child has a hundred languages (and a hundred, hundred more) but they steal ninety-nine.
The schools and the culture separate the head from the body.
They tell the child: to think without hands, to do without head, to listen and not to speak, to understand without joy, to love and to marvel only at Easter and Christmas.
They tell the child: to discover the world already there and of the hundred they steal ninety-nine.
They tell the child: that work and play, reality and fantasy, science and imagination, sky and earth, reason and dream, are things that do not belong together.
And thus they tell the child that the hundred is not there.
The child says: No way. The hundred is there.

Loris Malaguzzi

This is what influences our practice and approach.

My son have been attending Tiny talkers for a year and half now. The settling was really smooth and the staff made my son feel very comfortable.
They are always open for parents to participate when they can, by allowing them to join trips and come to the nursery anytime they want.

Having a nursery that I can trust made our settling in Nottingham easier as I didn't need to worry about my son's care.

My son is very happy at Tiny talkers and can express his imagination while still playing and having fun.

Lovely friendly nursery. The staff got to know my daughter very quickly and look after her incredibly well. They do lots of different activities with the children and keep with rooms constantly changing and interesting. My daughter loves it at Tiny Talkers and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Our son has been at Tiny Talkers for over a year and we cannot fault the care and education he receives there. The staff are incredible - both caring and knowledgeable. During the time that our son has been there, we have experienced almost zero staff turnover and we think that speaks volumes about the positive, nurturing atmosphere at Tiny Talkers. Our son's language development has been wonderful and we put that largely down to the focus that the nursery places on language and communication. The nursery's philosophy means that learning is truly child-led - as it should be in an excellent early years setting. The children are often taken out into the local community to visit the park, library, shops etc. In the past few weeks alone, our son has been to the shop to buy ingredients to make soup (after doing some pumpkin carving and talking about what they could do with the pumpkin flesh), to the library to get some books about animals (as the children were showing an interest) and to the park. Would highly recommend Tiny Talkers for a nursery that REALLY understands how early years should be!

My daughter loves her time at nursery.
The staff have always been great, so friendly and they all know my daughters name even those who don’t work with her age group.
I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone.

Both of my children have loved their time at tiny talkers. What makes this setting is the staff- they are brilliant, my eldest who has now left loves come to pick up his sister to see them all each week. The care provided has been exceptional and the facilities and variety if activities for the children are great. Would recommend to everyone.
