About Me
I regularly babysit and petsit for family/friends. I have had some experience of working with all ages, some with physical/learning difficulties. However, most of my experience is with early years.
I am very friendly and enjoy meeting new people. I always have a smile on my face, especially around children, and it is a passion and extremely rewarding to be part of, and to watch each child’s development as they grow. I am creative, proactive and enjoy all aspects of childcare. I think that children should have structure and routine to their day to thrive. I also add fun and freedom of choice for the children to gain independence, self-esteem and confidence.
I encourage children to learn through play but I also organize activities to aid all areas of their development, and am familiar with, and use the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage' Framework EYFS. The thing I enjoy most about working with children is seeing them happy and develop new skills.
Hobbies & Interests - I'm a member of a gym, I have completed the Great North Run twice to raise funds for charity, along with other charity races. I also enjoy babysitting/petsitting for friends and family, cooking, outdoor nature adventures, arts and crafts, knitting, church, gardening, reading, movies, cycling, gym.

Melissa was fabulous looking after our two boys aged 1 and 6. Theo warmed to her easily and we felt comfortable with her looking after them. Excellent communications and first class service.

Melissa was such a calm, warm and friendly presence for our little boy Étienne. She was so patient with him, and made us feel at ease when leaving him with her. Would highly recommend.

Melissa came to our aid last minute when our usual sitter cancelled at short notice. She was extremely prompt in replying and professional. Melissa was very punctual and I’d certainly use her again and recommend her to friends. Thank you

Melissa was so helpful in what was our first experience with a babysitter. Great communication, a pre meet and then to top it off both of our kids love her. Our almost 2 year old is never sure of new people and can often cry or hide - but she warmed to Melissa immediately. Will definitely be booking with Melissa again. Happy to recommend to anyone
