About Me

I am a qualified primary school teacher with over 14 years of experience working with children ages 4 to 11. Thus, I have knowledge, skills and experience in teaching across the primary age range.
I have accomplished the Masters-level National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENDco) course (distinction grade), where I gained vital information on leading the coordination of provision for children and young people with SEN and/or disabilities.
I recently completed an Elklan course on Speech and Language Support for Pupils with SLD, which focused on adult-pupil interaction and non-verbal communication, blank language scheme or understanding abstract language, promoting vocabulary development and developing expressive language.I have also undertaken and completed an introductory diploma course on Applied Behaviour Analysis therapy. Having completed a Bachelor of Education at London Metropolitan University, I have previously been a member of the extended leadership team within a London primary school. During this time I lead staff by modelling strategies and illustrating the significance of why my students’ achievements are always at the heart of my work.
Special Educational Needs Teacher
As a special educational needs teacher, I support pupils with various needs. This includes moderate learning difficulties, where pupils have far greater difficulty than their peers in acquiring basic literacy and numeracy skills and in understanding concepts. Severe learning difficulties, whereby my pupils have significant intellectual or cognitive impairments.
In addition, I have worked with children who experience a wide range of social and emotional difficulties which manifest themselves in many ways. These may include becoming withdrawn, isolated and displaying challenging, disruptive or disturbing behaviour.
Working in a special educational needs setting means I am fortunate in having access to current, innovative and, most importantly effective resources that are not always accessible in mainstream schools.
I am a very driven, self-motivated individual, with high expectations of myself and staff alike.
Since gaining my National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership in Education, I have grown in confidence, credibility and decisiveness when making judgements or evaluating progress and performance.
During my governess/tutorial work, I have supported many students who attended private and international schools, including Pembridge Hall (Notting Hill), Wetherby School (Notting Hill), Strawberry Fields Nursery (Notting Hill), St Nicholas Preparatory School (Knightsbridge) and Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle de Londres (Cromwell Road, Kensington), with the addition of home-schooling in Belgravia.
My HNW clients expect the best education and care for their children, which I always endeavour to
provide. I acknowledge my clients’ requests for professionalism at all times, and therefore I am proactive, discrete and respectful of all confidential matters.
My work as a governess/tutor includes planning a smooth timetable, which ensures a routine that allows time for homework, educational activities and self-growth. I liaise with the child’s school, to ensure standards and achievements are being maintained.
Having worked with several international families, I appreciate that it is important for me to
demonstrate a solid knowledge of the UK school curriculum, as parents are usually unfamiliar with the UK education system. I have access to many of the current teaching resources available.
I believe my role as a tutor is not limited to just academia but also prioritising the children’s
well-being as a whole. This includes planning and implementing non-educational activities and
developing life skills.
My other endeavours include understanding the importance of engaging and stimulating all children,
regardless of their abilities by ensuring they are challenged during tasks. I believe it is important to
promote confidence within the child to encourage independence and allow them to take control of their learning. As a passionate tutor, I aim to embed a curiosity and love for learning and exploring.

My Experience

In the past I authored a series of ‘Skills for Life’ books for Key Stage 1, I was fortunate to experience different learning styles within a certain age group. I now use these approaches in my class and during my private tuition lessons.
My extensive experience with children who have learning difficulties including autism, global delay and dyslexia; has taught me to use a holistic approach, providing individualised care to cater for children’s needs. I believe it is important to promote confidence within the child to encourage independence and allow them to take control of their own learning.
My other endeavours include understanding the importance of engaging and stimulating more able/gifted children, by ensuring they are challenged during tasks. Often encouraging gifted and talented children to think outside the box.
Furthermore, I have taught Year 2 for a number of years, with SATs results averaging over 90% in Reading, Writing and Maths. I have also achieved the same positive results when teaching the Phonics Screening test.
