About Me

Throughout my time working in early years and in multiple long term Governess/Nannying positions and vast experience solely running Private Nurseries as Deputy Manager and Assistant Manager, I have developed skills that are all transferrable. These skills underpin my beliefs surrounding Childcare and reflects my day to day work practice, all of which have been used to create a system specifically developed for growing minds that question everything.

It has been developed to achieve a high level of learning and emotional success, without the sole use of tables, chairs and silent learning, in an outdated practice. It is to be interwoven with exploration, fun, sensory investigation, creativity, risk, challenge, laughing, emotional security and self-confidence, as well as life skills, an understanding of self, and an understanding of world cultures.

I have a unique and diverse approach that will fully support children’s learning covering more than the 7 areas, and will also support their educational, physical, social and emotional growth. To me as an educator I place a great importance on encouraging (age appropriate) children to ask as many questions as necessary, and I try to never send them away without an answer or answers, or a clear cut pathway to finding those answers for themselves, I believe this in itself allows children to develop opinions, confidence, knowledge and their curiosity.

I believe children in the best way, have minds that have a similar lead characteristic to that of a sponge, meaning they never stop learning. They absorb all that they experience, hear, and observe, some of which may not be helpful. As a professional, it is my responsibility to help assure I teach and speak to the best of my ability, never steering wrong. I do this by always learning myself, and studying my craft continuously, learning more every day.
A relationship with an nanny/educator should be a relationship based on safety, understanding, positive reinforcement, fun, the ability to feel as though they can speak freely, honesty, trust, laughing and emotional security. Care, kind hearted nature, comfort, engagement, stability and patience are of the upmost importance and should without a doubt be present, along with a love for children, a love for the job, for teaching, a lightheartedness and kindness about yourself, and a reassuring aura.

All of these should come into play when selecting an professional, and the years I’ve spent working within the different avenues of childcare and Child Protection have gained an deeper understanding, a patience, an ability to not only teach but reach children on a different level than most, and bond with them as a carer should, without leaving out fun, happines, love, laughter and growth, which sadly and unfortunately can often can be left out by some professionals. Safety, emotional, physical, personal development, along with educational growth are to be the main objective, including personal happiness, educational support, trust, fun, love and understanding and because of this I believe I am able to be a positive role model and help children progress not only educationally but in every aspect of their lives that I’m able to contribute to, bringing growth that can be seen way into adult life.

I have found that my own proven approach, which focuses on a hands on, patient, stimulating and understanding environment, where learning something new is a hourly occurrence and not a daily one, and where exploring the world around them, including languages, cultures and the diversity of us all is regular occurrence and is a big characteristic of effective and successful learning.

I am whole heartedly a believer in flash cards and rescourses for learning and engaging, I have a host of resources laminated and in keeping with the EYFS and primary school curriculums, covering over 200 topics; including online recourses, books, e-books, worksheets, legal and educational forms, reports, handover forms, medical, dietary, safeguarding, pastoral, S.E.N and behavioural supporting forms and all short term, long term and continuous planning forms to delivered your child(REN) their own tailored and individualised learning journey.

I believe there is always a chance for learning and always a chance to develop and grow in all situations. Bonding with the children we work with is so very important, having a child not only look up to you, but look forward to seeing you, loving you and caring for you as not only an educator but as another healthy role model in their lives, someone they can trust, confide in and someone who never lets them down. Someone who enjoys what they do and has passion for not only children but for education. I find that there are typically always missed opportunities, either developmentally, interpersonally, culturally or emotionally and my way of teaching and my method of childcare, I believe is the way forward to help create, not only academic and educational achievements, knowledge and success but also life skills. Helping them to develop their own opinions and belief systems are of critical to ensuring individualism and ensuring we stay true to ourselves. I believe in exposing children to the world, exploring and investigating our surroundings, visiting museums, nature reserves, libraries, markets, music and movement classes, and showing them the world we live in first hand, in a safe environment with a safe person, whilst maintaining a high level of fun, care and learning. Helping children steer themselves through the rest of their lives and to set them up with not only knowledge but skills to last a life time is what I dedicate myself to daily. Giving them the greatest chance to grow into happy, successful, strong minded and confident adults.

Therefore, I believe I would be a credit to yourselves and your child(ren). Above all I am a caring, trustworthy, honest, loyal and very knowledgeable and educated, professional who has always placed children and their mental, emotional and physical health and welfare first, whom every day goes beyond the standard of the average professional, to ensure happiness as well as educational, personal and emotional care and growth, giving them life skills to last for the remainder of their lives, and giving them another additional idea of a positive role model, and showing that educators need a combination of skills not always thought of by the average educator, but a combination of skills I believe I carry.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you believe I am the one for you and your child(ren), please do contact me as I would love to hear from you!

Ria worked for my family over a long period of time as a Nanny who specialises in additional needs and medical issues which is what we were searching for. She offered amazing care as well as exceptional teaching. She planned out each and every day full of activities based on the topic of the month, What they are struggling with or learning at school, she did full topics such as space and turned our front room into a black hole full of amazing space displays, making moon rocks and rocket ships and linking it to every learning area, she made maths fun! She catered for cooking as well as meeting our sons individual medical needs which required constant round the clock care. Even having our eldest say we can’t cook like Ria!! Our children truly love her still to this day and see her as one of the family still to this day asking for her! If she hadn’t of moved I’m sure she would of been a long standing member of our family until our children reached teenage years. She offered outstanding care and showed real passion for our family going above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. You have a lot of nannies that can do the basic necessities but she focused on development, happiness and laughter! She took them on regular trips for outside learning, created so many interesting lesson plans. We ended up with worm bins, compost projects, giant snail enclosures, rocket ships, mud painting, scavenger hunting and so much more! We had cameras on constant in our home as we had previous issues before with a nanny and watching Ria every day with our children restored our faith in Nannies. They truly love her and hung on every word she said. If they asked to do something or wanted to learn or play she never turned them down. Whether they wanted to make mud pies, fresh bread or play dough spaghetti, or catch caterpillars she always gave them all her attention and abilities as a teacher.
We hired Ria as she had exceptional experience and references in special needs and she did not fall short. She provided home learning bags for us to continue what she started. She brought her own resources for learning and turned our house into an amazing classroom.

I couldn’t believe the turn around in our boys. She took them from children who were unwilling to listen to a nanny or participate in any learning who would scream when we left them with our previous nanny, to children who were curious about everything and couldn’t wait for us to leave and would cry when Ria would go!. She took them on regular trips to Farmers markets to get food for meals, farms to do fruit picking and learn about animals and food, swimming, bear hunts. she taught brain brain breaks and baby yoga! She did sensory activities daily always a different one and full of fun and excitement.

I’ve never made a review before as our previous nanny before her was not made for the field, however Ria truly changed our children’s lives and ours for the better. We’re searching for a new nanny now and we have thus far been disappointed because none simply match up! The levels of independence and love for learning she encouraged in our children will stick with us for life. One of our youngest with additional needs struggled badly with potty training, sensory issues and behaviour problems and within two months he was using the toilet fully, helping g dress himself and hadn’t had a melt down since the first week of her joining us. Most nannies discipline hard but Ria got down to their level, took their hands in hers, did breathing techniques and listened to them and their feelings and talked through it. She taught us so much that we could never repay so that’s what we’re doing with this review!

Ria you truly have shaped our lives and I wish you the best in your new home. We know the next family you work with will be as blessed as we are for finding you.
