About Us
At SEND to Learn Nursery we believe that our parents should expect the best for their child regardless of differing circumstances.
Our aim is to provide exceptional inclusive nursery education for children aged 9 months - 5 years old, in a friendly child-centred environment, delivered by highly experienced and motivated staff who understand the needs of the children in their care.
Although open to all students, we specialise in children with additional needs and complex medical needs, with care and education individualised to provide all children with the best opportunities for development. We have a unique approach to learning which is built upon the best aspects of Special Education Needs Education and Early Years Education and Child Care. We follow the EYFS framework, with a focus on the various communication and sensory needs of our children.
All of our staff are qualified to a minimum of Level 3, with extensive experience and multiple qualifications in Early Years and Special Educational Needs. All staff are also training in Makaton signing which is used on a daily basis. We take a maximum of 30 children per session(split into 2 groups of up to 15 children) and operate a maximum ratio of 1 staff member to 4 children to ensure all children get the highest level of care & attention throughout their time with us. All children have individualised learning programmes with targets specific to their level of development. They also receive 1-to-1 input with staff members to work on their individual targets. We work closely with external partners such as Speech & Language therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists & Portage to set combined targets for those children who require additional input.
We are situated right in the heart of Blyth town centre with easy access by car and bus. We are also a short walk from the shops and Ridley Park, and a short drive to Blyth beach, where we regularly visit with the children. Within nursery we have 5 spacious learning environments which also incorporate messy play areas, construction zones, reading snugs, sensory spaces, and snack areas. On top of this we have 2 specially designed sensory rooms for our children to access as well as a fully enclosed outdoor garden with a multitude of ever-developing activities and resources for the children to explore and enjoy.

Jace has been attending this nursery almost a year now. He is very settled and has a fantastic time while he is here , which is also evident by the fab photos on tapestry. The staff here are very down to earth , kind and friendly. They always put the childrens needs (all of them) as top priority and it's clear to see the bond they have with each of the children . They always have time to support the parents and families with any current difficulties they may be facing or questions, and really go above and beyond.
The facilities , surroundings and equipment are always immaculate and maintained to a high standard. The education is always spot on.
I really would highly recommend this nursery to anyone who is interested. 5*

My little boy joined SEND to learn in September 2020, after unpleasant experience in main stream settings nursery. Scott who have ASD struggles with communication and social interactions, since he joined this amazing place I can see outstanding difference in him! Scotty have already build connection with staff (a specially with Kath who he adores) and he seems to be much more happy in himself, he runs each day to the nursery with massive smile on his face. Staff is representing outstanding level of knowledge and support, they are always there to help, not only to children under they care but as well to us parents! Nursery is adopted to match all children’s needs and settings itself is like you would go to Alice in wonderland, they have an amazing garden where each child can find something fun to do, number of classrooms adopted to many different needs of children, sensory room where children can calm down, outstanding soft play room where children can enjoy themselves. My only regret is that I can’t join nursery myself to have loads of fun in this amazing place! I couldn’t recommend enough SEND to learn, thank you guys you are doing amazing job for all our children!

Our little boy started here in September, it has been the best decision we've made. The staff go above and beyond and are very supportive, offering lots of additional advice and strategies to help our son learn and develop. I also love that the focus is on what the child can do rather than what they can't yet. Another plus point is the varied learning areas the nursery offers, particularly the sensory rooms which you wouldn't get at your usual nursery. We would recommend SEND to Learn to anyone, thank you for all you's do!

My daughter has been attending since September 2020 she loves coming and I find all staff so helpful she did find it hard going at first but now just runs in and comes out with a smile on her face ! She has dairy intolerance and the nursery accommodated this which keeps me at ease ! Always met with a happy face well it’s hard to see behind mask due to current situation ! I have seen a big difference in my child since attending here and glad I chose this nursery to look after my child

:-) We absolutely love having her & she's settled brilliantly! Hopefully masks won't be around much longer & we'll be back to showing our usual happy faces :-)
This is the first place my son who has ASD, has made a connection with staff. For the first time I've never had a phonecall to go and pick him up because he is having a meltdown. If the staff here can manage my sons behaviour then I'm sure they could manage any child. I know it is normally for 0-5's but they took my son who has just turned 7 in and they welcomed him. He loves the place and is sad that he cannot go with the current pandemic. In particular, his connection with Kath is wonderful. He is very suspicious of people but ge works well with staff here. It will be sad when he has to leave when he gets a placement in a SEND school.
I have visited the nursery and it is fabulous! The place is huge! It consists of a sensory room, soft play area (i love that bit!), outdoor play area and several other activity rooms. It is just a wonderful nursery!
