About Me

Hello and a very warm welcome to my profile. My name is Danni and I am the proud proprietor of Mother Nurture Hygge in the Early Years Accredited Childminding. We are currently the only certified Hygge accredited provision within Otley. I have lived in the beautiful market town of Otley in a spacious open plan semi detached house with stunning views of the chevin for over 12 years now and I love what our town has to offer. I live with my super patient and supportive husband, my charasmatic and creative 11 year old son and our menagerie of friendly pets!

We are an officially accredited Hygge Early Years setting meaning we have a very home from home based setting with natural elements. We love playing by candle light to soothing music, perfect for transitions and a calmer approach to play. We have nooks for children to investigate vintage technology from old fashioned phones and weigh scales to open ended dress up baskets, typewriters and curios..we are quite similar to the curiosity approach if you love that style of loose parts investigative play. Children are encouraged to contribute treasures to our working top collections from trips out and cherishing being together in cosy moments of discovery, we have a slower pace to teaching and learning with a focus on the processes of learning rather than always driving for the end result, especially in arts and crafts.

I am delighted and fortunate to share that I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with additional experience throughout my career in a local private nursery as well as taking a secondment during my career to full fill a placement as an After School Club Manager as well as a Mental Health Mentor. This means I have up to date relevant qualifications, experience and knowledge of children from birth up until 11 years old. I work with my fantastic assistant full time who also has experience working with children of all ages.

Having always adored children, childminding is my perfect job, being patient, supportive and compassionate, I have all the time in the world for wiping faces, administering snuggles and explorative play as well as encouraging development and learning across the whole EYFS curriculum. Supporting the development of your child, I endeavor to tailor design the childcare your special little one deserves so they become well rounded, balanced and confident little people, ready to take on the world and preparing them for their next steps..going to school. Leaving your child may feel like a daunting experience at first but here at Mother Nurture you have the peace of mind that they will be cared for in our special environment with someone who is relevant, fully qualified, specialised and who simply loves being their caregiver.

Our home is open plan which means we can provide plenty of space for adventure, we have a brand new kitchen and bathroom, our garden is very accommodating with space to ride in cars, pootle on scooters and play in the sand and water trays beneath our sail on the brand new decking. For those with any allergies we have a super soft artificial turf area and we have a brand new converted garage come learning cabin stocked with beautiful quality resources to provide a dedicated environment reserved only for our little friends complete with EYFS learning areas.

Please do contact us to discuss your needs and requirements over a lovely cup of tea, peruse our setting and enjoy looking through our folders of experience.

My Experience

Prior to my last role as a HLTA, I was a primary school teacher, I have worked in all year groups from reception to year 6 throughout my teaching career and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. So why leave teaching I ask you ponder, well, I made the decision to exchange my role to be a HLTA part time to cater for a time in my son's life when he required multiple surgeries so I made the decision to put his needs first and tend to his welfare and recovery. He is fully recovered and healthy now and this time lead to me re-thinking and prioritising my career moving forwards.

As well as being a primary teacher I have also been lucky enough to have worked at a local private nursery working with new born babies up to children leaving to start their journey in primary school as well as taking on a secondment position as an After School Club Manager and a Mental Health Learning Mentor. All of these roles have ensured I have a balanced wealth of experience of all ages and abilities of children, I have particular experience with autistic and diabetic children. Before I was a qualified teacher, I was a teaching assistant for many years where I worked in nursery and reception spending half of my time in a class room environment and half of my time working one to one with special needs children.

I have experience of SEND children, EHCP plans and medical needs such as asthma, epipens, Rhett, Autism, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and Looked After Children.

Due to being a qualified educator I am confident in delivering engaging and meaningful activities that are relevant to the EYFS framework, I understand it fully and I have gained much experience through mile stones, assessment, intervention and observation.
