About Me
I am a final year student at the University of Edinburgh, originally from the Czech Republic. I first found my way to children through theatre and have enjoyed working with them ever since. I find their curiosity, energy and imagination inspiring and enjoy encouraging their development. Due to my background in the performing arts, I like to engage children's creativity. I am also an avid hiker, love music, dance, sports and being outdoors.
My Experience
I have extensive experience in caring for children of all ages, housekeeping, meal preparation and pet care. Since 2021, I have been doing regular babysitting for various families in Edinburgh, looking after babies, toddlers, nursery age and older children. I worked at the British Council Summer Camp in Prague from 2018 to 2022, where I supervised large groups of children aged 6-14, planned and lead sports and games activities, and supported children with special needs and/or autism. I volunteered weekly at the Prague Youth Theatre drama club for children aged 4-9 between 2015 and 2017, overseeing interactive games and helping them stage a theatre production. From 2021 to 2022, I volunteered for the Cinnamon Trust, which is a charity that helps the elderly look after their pets, so I am comfortable with pet-sitting as well.
My Qualifications
I attended a baby and young child first aid training class in 2024, after completing a general first aid training course with the Czech Red Cross in 2021. I started an undergraduate degree in English and Scottish Literature (MA Hons) at the University of Edinburgh in 2020. I finished the IB diploma at the English College in Prague in 2020.
My Availability
My availability is flexible depending on our agreement. I am looking for part-time or ad-hoc hours. I can be available at short notice.

Fran worked for us looking after 1 year old Viola just for 3 days in 1 week to help me settle into my new remote job. Fran hadn't worked with children of violas age for a while but she got the hang of nappy changes, feeding solids, holding and comforting Viola very quickly and beautifully.
I loved how gentle and calm her voice was in communicating and playing with my baby, especially as she got to use her native Czech language as Viola is part Czech. She had a natural way of communicating respectfully with Viola, not talking down to her or trying to dominate her. If Fran wanted to work with this age again, I would recommend her.
Fran worked as a nanny in our home, not a childminder so setting and food are illrelevent but I couldn't leave them blank.
