About Me
My name is Grace and I've had regular nannying/babysitting experience with children aged 0-12 over the last 14 years. After spending 2 years travelling, working and discovering new cultures, I arrived back home in Scotland ready for new challenges and experiences. I then lived in Musselburgh for 4.5 years and enjoyed spending my weeks in the company of wonderful, inspirational children. I am travelling again from Sept 2023 - start of June 2024, but will then be back in Scotland. I will be in the Edinburgh / Lothians area from the 5th - 28th June 2024. I'm experienced, friendly, trustworthy and responsible.
My Experience
Over the last 14 years, I have regularly worked with children from 0-12y in a nanny, babysitter, au pair or volunteer teaching capacity. A highlight for me was when I worked as an au pair in Australia for 6 months with 3 children (3, 2, newborn). This was both a challenging and rewarding position during which I developed a very strong bond with the children and the family while greatly increasing my childcare experience. I've worked with many different families and have experience with twins, boisterous toddlers, balancing babies with attention needing siblings, juggling more children than hands and generally having lots of fun and laughter with these wonderful little people. I have also worked in children's retail and trained in shoe fitting so am happy to give footwear a wee once-over check anytime.
My roles within different families usually involve: nursery drop-offs, supervising breakfast, lunch and dinner times, taking children to, and participating in, their clubs/classes, organising bedtimes, occupying children with various activities e.g. going to the park, playing in the garden, indoor crafting etc. I like to find places to take the children that suit their interests but also broaden their outlook and engage their attention, so am always on the look out for fun events to attend. I have also worked with babies using signs for communication and am happy to use this skill again as it was always very rewarding to watch their understanding develop.
I also have a 12 year-old niece whom I adore and am currently travelling the world with. My sister and niece often join me for adventures. While we travel, we worldschool using the places we visit as the classroom and the people we meet to broaden our cultural perspectives.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation From Linear to Circular Programme - completed 2020.
Qualified as a TEFL teacher in June 2018.
Graduated with First Class BA(Hons) Fashion Management at RGU Business School in 2015.

Grace has looked after our 2 sons (4y & 7m) during the day and in the evening - she is brilliant. Punctual, professional and friendly - my older son loves having her round to play and looks forward to being in her looking after him. Highly recommend.

Grace is great with my children - patient, kind and brilliant at keeping them busy. She is always flexible whenever possible, and completely reliable and punctual. She’s also been wonderful about helping with some chores around the house, which is so appreciated especially with having a young baby. She is always positive and upbeat, and my son is so pleased whenever he hears she’s coming. I’d highly recommend her.

Grace is a very mature, reliable, trustworthy and skilled individual. She manages to get the perfect balance of fun and control with children so our boys did have adventures with her but we never feared for their safety, as we knew she would be thinking ahead and the boys listened and respected her. For parents of active boys, you'll understand how essential this is! She has grown up watching her very loved, playgroup organiser, Mother and learnt many effective methods along the way. Friends have also used her for babysitting and childminding, rating her equally highly. We are thrilled she is able to look after our boys again for a couple of months and recommend her fully to any other family.
