About Me

Hi,
My name is Natacha Palhares-Rossi.
I have worked in a variety of positions within the education sector over the past twelve years: as a Voluntary Head Teacher in Mozambique; as a Play leader and PE teacher in Portugal; as a Special Needs Therapist in London; as a Movement therapist and Classroom Assistant in a Special School in London, as a private one-to-one special needs therapist and nanny; as a Montessori student doing on the job training in a preparatory school for children aged 3 to 11 years old and recently as a Primary school teacher in year 2.

I am currently working as Reception Teachet. I am the year group leader responsible for 3 classes. I am also the Maths coordinator for the school. I am doing a Maths Mastery course as well as training for EYFS leadership.
I am available for tutoring primary age children. Special needs students are also welcome!
I only available to tutor on Saturdays and during half tetms.
I am also available to prepare children for the 11+ exams.
I drive my own car so I can easily commute to your house.
I am also free during school holidays.
Please let me know if you have any positions you think I might be suited for.
Natacha De Bivar Palhares Rossi

September 2009 – August 2011 Private one-to-one special needs therapist and nanny, several families, London, Dorset and Virginia USA
1. Oswald family, Dorset and Virginia USA
I lived (placed by Eden Nannies) with a British family (USA from the 14th May to 19thJune and during 3 months in Dorset, we went to Portugal together from the 25th July to the 8th August). They have 6 children but the main focus was on the younger one with Autism. I learned and applied a programme to help develop his language (Son Rise).
2. Madeleine-Hills family, Pimlico
I worked with a boy of three years of age and his older brother (6 years) with language delay. It involved coordinating the boys’ busy schedules with their mother. Sole charge therapy with the older boy, outdoor activities (parks, trips around London) and also weekly classes at the swimming pool. Some cooking and running errands for the house were involved.
3. Aggarwal family, Ealing
I worked with a 14 year old boy. Sole charge position of 10 hours a week. Included cooking and all nursery duties. Several outdoor activities and local playgroups.
4. Meahbina family, Brixton
I supported a 4-year-old girl with very demanding special needs. It was a mixed role of sole charge and helping the mother, 7 hours a week. Mains duties were feeding and play. Also helping mother to prepare food as the girl had very specific diet needs.
5. De Greve family, January 2011, Northfields
I worked with 3 children aged 5 to 10, once a week. Duties involved picking up at school, preparing dinner and assisting with homework. The younger child had some mild special needs involving challenging behavior so my main role was to assist him with homework and therapy play.

• Teaching students with special needs (age of 3 to 17) using the cognitive instruments developed by Professor Reuven Feuerstein
• Activities and approaches were based on movement to help the students develop their cognitive skills: spatial awareness; temporal concepts (e.g. time, days of the week); awareness of context and situations;
• Developing exercise programs for students with Down syndrome; developing games to help students with autism to increase their language.

OTHER EXPERIENCES
Mission in Africa
After finishing my degree, I went to Mozambique for two and a half years, to do voluntary work with a group of Spanish missionaries (Missionaries of St. Vincent de Paul). There I ran two schools of 2500 students and 50 teachers, supervising the teaching of pupils from age five to sixteen and training the teaching staff in various pedagogic areas. This required good oral and communication skills, both in Portuguese and the local language, which I learnt during my staying in the country. In addition, I also developed new radio programmes for “Radio Watana” aimed at the local youth, and I volunteered at the local Health Centre, helping people with HIV-AIDS. Life in Mozambique was full of challenges, but it helped me to achieve good results with very little resources, and to understand different issues involving social action and community development work. Being part of an international team in Africa has given me a strong perspective in understanding different cultures, and being able to adapt to different environments and take on different approaches.

Natacha has fantastic energy levels.
She is very experienced, professional and organised.
Organised, efficient, highly attentive, focussed, dedicated and never stressed, I would not hesitate recommending her as a carer or sitter.
Caring, warm and kind, your children will grow in confidence with her as evidenced by kids she has looked after, and commented on by parents.
Punctual and flexible, she is an excellent nanny and childcarer.
