I am registered (Care Inspectorate) child minder in Edinburgh and a qualified Forest Kindergarten leader. At present I have no childminding spaces available. Spaces coming up January 2025.
As a registered childminder you can rest assured that I am fully insured, police checked, first aid certified and up to date with current practice in early years education. I have worked with children and families for over 16 years and have a sound knowledge of child development and play.
My home and garden are welcoming and stocked with a selection of well thought out stimulating resources for young children. I am keen on using natural resources, loose parts and wooden toys as I believe these offer a calmer and more inspiring environment for children. Time spent outdoors is an essential part of our day whatever the weather! We also enjoy time at the local library, the park, our local playgroups, the botanic gardens and art galleries to name a few. Indoors it is very much a child led service where your child is treated as an individual and has a key role in planning activities and outings. They are listened to and their ideas are always taken into consideration. My setting offers a chance for your child to flourish in a supportive, stimulating and fun environment.
As part of what I offer, I will be introducing forest kindergarten play alongside my usual provision. Children will have a weekly opportunity for a forest kindergarten session within a local outdoor space. This will compliment my existing child centered practice and allow the children to nurture a connection and sense of belonging with nature.
As a mum of 3 children (18years, 16 years and 7 years) I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to leave your most precious person with someone new so I am happy to meet first to discuss your childcare requirements and to see if we are a good fit! I was delighted to find Marion. On first meeting her I was impressed by how attuned and interested she was in our little girl, getting to know her likes & dislikes and taking the time to plan her hours which are packed full of fun, stimulation, sensory play and outdoor adventures and lots of reassurance and comfort. My wee one (17 months) settled in within a few days and now she sings on the way over and happy when I leave. Marion will always send a reassuring text which I am grateful for. When I come to collect my little girl she is in great form and shows me what she's being doing. Marion has in-depth knowledge and experience of the early years -highly recommended.
Overall
Marion was a charm for my kids. They took to her immediately and had a great time with her. She kept them entertained and engaged and the kids loved spending time with her. I highly recommend her.
