Fantastic childminder

My little boy started with Lisa and her team in July 2014, just before his 2nd birthday.She had been recommended by colleagues whose children already went to her. I had been quite anxious about this transition as he was very fond of his previous childminder, but it went more smoothly than I could have imagined. He clearly felt safe and content in his new setting very quickly and that is credit to Lisa and her team for the way they supported the transition and the nurturing environment they create.

Once starting his language skills very quickly developed and this was helped by the fact that he was playing with children of various ages. He is a very active little boy, so the fact that there is a large outdoor area, some with covering to allow outdoor play even when it is raining, has been really important. He has developed greatly in all areas but perhaps most importantly to me is the way social and emotional development is promoted. He has developed lovely friendships and it is clear that the children care about each other. They are helped to develop awareness of their feelings and those of other people. This has really helped him to verbalise some of his frustrations.

During the past 6 months my little boy has experienced some significant life events including the arrival of a sibling and starting preschool. Lisa has been a fantastic source of support not just to him but also to me during these transitions. i will be sending my little girl there and I would certainly recommend her to other parents.

Fantastic Childminder!

My son Zack has been going to Lisa's 4 days a week since he was 13 months old, when I returned to work. I found the process of finding a childminder / nursery very stressful and difficult - it's such a huge thing to be giving someone your most precious possession to look after and nurture whilst you are out at work. HOWEVER, as soon as my husband and I came across Lisa, we both quickly agreed that she would be the ideal choice of childminder for us.

The facilities Lisa has at her home are fantastic and includes a purpose built out-house for the children, full of stimulating and varied toys, games and equipment and a sensory den, which they all love. She also has a good garden space and space at the side of the house for other creative activities, including planting vegetables and seeds.

It is clear when you talk to Lisa how experienced she is and that she has worked in a range of childcare settings over the years. I often ask her for advice and information and she has always been able to answer my questions and/or direct me to other useful information and resources. She will always take the time out to talk to you, despite how busy she is running her childminding business.

From day one, I could see the lovely bond she has with all the children there and this is such an important factor when considering a childminder. The children love giving her cuddles and clearly have great affection for her and it is obvious how much she enjoys the job she does. All of Lisa's assisstants are great as well and my son goes to all of them freely and easily and they also demonstrate good bonds with the children they care for. When I go and collect Zack, I always get feedback from one of the team about how he has been and they can always answer any questions I have.

Without doubt, my son has moved on developmentally so much since he has been going to Lisa's. Part of the reason I chose a childminder over a nursery is that I love the idea of the younger children all being mixed in with the older children so they can learn from them. All the children are taught to be very respectful to one another and the older ones know to be careful and look after the younger ones and it's lovely to see.

Lisa is understanding about any dietary requirments your child may have and always adheres to these. She makes nutritious and healthy meals and although my son can be very picky with food at home, I always get reports that he eats everything at Lisa's and wants seconds!

There are so many more positive things I could say on here about Lisa Newman. She is a fantastic childminder and very organised and committed to what she does and I am so pleased we have found her to help look after our son! Thanks Lisa and all your assisstants - you do a great job :)

Creative and fun childminder

Both of my sons (4 and 1) go to Lisa’s childcare setting. The fact that our second child had a place before he was even born, says it all. We are truly happy with the setting and never considered any other option. My 4-year old has felt at home at Lisa’s from a very young age and still goes there before and after school. Now his little brother spends three days of the week there too, it’s is so nice to see the boys have some brother-time together, despite not being at home.

Our second son (1) never had a problem settling in and seems to have a great time while he is there. Every night Lisa sends a short update on what they did throughout the day, together with some photos, which is such a nice and reassuring thing to read and look at. Lisa and her assistants are very creative in what they do each day, using natural materials, digging in soil, harvesting, playing with water and sand etc. Something that is vital to us are healthy meals, and even my little man shows me that he loves mealtimes with his friends by sitting down on his chair demanding toast as soon as we get through the door.

The fact that it has a family feel to the place, and that the whole family gets involved with the children, I like the most. Considering the time the children spend there, we wanted it to feel like a second home to them rather than a place where they have to go when Mummy and Daddy have to work – and it truly does to them.

When my second son came along, his brother showed no sign of jealousy and was so attentive towards him. I truly believe that he learned to be respectful to other children at Lisa’s and that mixing with children of different age groups spurred on his development and taught him consideration and patience.

I recently had a career change and needless to say things have been manic. However, I could focus on the new job as I was confident that our children are being cared for in a safe and caring environment, which was a tremendous help.
