About Me

thank you!

Aged 33 and live in Southport.
I have a clear DBS enhanced disclosure dated 2020.
I have a genuine love for children and enjoy being part of and seeing, their development. I'm a very outgoing person, hard working, friendly, fun and trustworthy. One of my favourite parts of working with children is getting to know and be a part of different families and creating positive relationships with both. I am a keen home cook and love to encourage children to join in creating healthy, fun meals.

I spend a lot of my free time reading and attending live music concerts and theatre, as both form a big part of my life.
I also enjoy arts and crafts and many outdoor activities such as swimming, wild swimming, canoeing and walking; just some of the many benefits which came with my time living in the Lake District!

Recently, since finishing my university course, I have been making the most of my extra time by continuing my professional development in the form of additional courses. My degree focused on early years children, however, I have experience of working with children aged 0-11 and I feel that I have a variety of transferable skills relevant to most aspects of childcare.

I have had requests for nannying which I am also happy to do and I don't minding helping out with the housework.

My Experience

I worked as Assistant Play Leader at an after school club, from September 2011 - September 2013, with children aged 4-11. Here, I helped to create a friendly and welcoming environment for each child. I assisted the play leader in planning activities and providing appropriate resources and assisted the children in their play and learning. I continued formative assessment on the EYFS children and planned activities to aid them in meeting their early learning goals, tailored to their specific needs and interests. My responsibilities were mostly child focused which required me to provide structure and stability to the children whilst supporting their play choices and emotional needs.
In addition to this, I have worked as a Nursery Cook from March - December 2013. Here, I organised, prepared and cooked a healthy balanced diet for children, aged 3 months to 5 years, taking into account dietary requirements and preference. I planned healthy menus that included child meal choice.
I worked as a Senior Teaching Assistant, at a nursery school, which gave me experience in other areas, for example, courses on woodland development and bereavement in children.
During my studies, I have also been placed in many other settings including mixed nursery, reception, year 1 and 2 classes, pre schools, nurseries and baby rooms. In these settings, I worked with small groups and individual pupils within the EYFS and Key Stage 1 and 2. I worked closely with the classroom teachers and communicated well within the staff team.
My duties included assisting with maintaining children's records, supporting children's emotional and behavioural problems, developing children's social skills, preparing and presenting children's work, supporting class teachers with duties in order to support teaching and other duties as required.
I have a experience with Pre School children with ASD, and have worked with teenagers and young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities for the last five years. I have had a session with a diabetic nurse on how to care for children with Type 1 Diabetes and sessions on how to deliver emergency epilepsy medication. I am also currently (very slowly!) learning SOME sign language, using SignAlong and Makaton.
My previous post as Manager of a small, charity-run Pre-School saw me combine all skills learnt and create a truly child-led environment where all children and families felt valued, gaining a Good Ofsted report with Outstanding mentions.
My current role is working in a forest school nursery, with preschoolers all day, all weathers. Here, I help to support the children assess their own risk and play in the natural environment, and nurture their curiosity and creativity.
