My Experience

After completing my A-levels, to which I gained 4, I decided against university and headed into an apprenticeship to which I gained two qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools. I worked with children through out the school of varying abilities. Working within the school is where I gained my SEN experience working with children with Cerebal Palsy, Austism and Development Delay.

After some time I decided I wanted to leave home and live in a different country looking after children. This is where I found my Au Pairing Job in Austria, Vienna, where I stayed for a year and worked for a family who had 2 lovely boys aged 5 and 7.

My duties included school pick up, help with homework, preparing meals and packed lunches, taking them to after school clubs with mum and social activities, ensuring they are ready for bed for when their parents return home and finally making sure they were happy and cared for at all times when in my care. The boys especially loved going on long walks with their dogs and building dens in the forest!

I joined university in September 2016 to study Early Years and Childhood Studies. I qualified with first class.

During my first year of university I worked with a charity of which took children with additional needs on adventure weekends away. This was a rewarding amd exciting opportunity. This involved caring for children aged 5 - 12 years with various additional needs, supporting them through through weekend and ensuring they had a fun and enriching time.

During my second year I worked with a a warm and welcoming family, nannying for a young boy of 3 years. This involved picking him up from nursery and spending time with him inside his house or taking him to the local park. I was sometimes asked to cook meals and follow his bath and bedtime routine. I also occasional did some babysitting for this family. I am able to get hold of a reference from this family if you would like.

In my third year I started working with the nursery I am currently with. At this nursery I have been promoted to Room Leader and have been given a variety of roles within my practice. I have worked with children of various ages, supported their development by providing fun and interesting activities engaging the children in their own learning.

Since then I have worked in a private day nursery caring and supporting the development of children's learning between the ages of 4 months to 4 years. I worked alongside the EYFS, providing engaging and fun activities to support children's development.
