My name is Beth and I have just returned to the UK after travelling for 10 months. I am now hoping to study paediatric nursing at University and I am looking for more opportunities to work with children and their families - particularly children with additional needs. I have worked as a nanny, au pair, camp leader, teacher and carer over the last 7 years in the UK and overseas. I have worked with children from 6 months to 16 years of age. I have thoroughly enjoyed my work with children and families and I am looking forward to starting with a new family as soon as possible!
I creative and have previously studied a degree in music - happy to give lessons!. I am very curious and love to learn. I love the outdoors and going on new adventures! I am open minded and enjoy trying new things. I ready to commit to a new family whenever you are ready to have me :)
As part of my college course I did placements in nurseries and schools working with children 0-8 years. I also had a job over the school holidays in my first year in a nursery, working with 0-2 year olds. I have done various babysitting for children aged 0-8 years, including special needs.
My first nannying job, when I was just 17 was working with a young boy for a year where I did all the usual duties such as changing his nappy, going to clubs in the area, going to parks and on country walks, cooking and feeding etc. I also worked as a music teacher at Ferrers Music School on a Saturday morning for 3 years before I went to study Music at University. I taught children there from 1 to 11 years old.
During the summers I worked as a nanny firstly with 3 school aged boys. I did all the nanny-housekeeper duties such as ironing, cleaning, washing, tidying, preparing meals, school drops offs, days out, etc. I even taught one of the boys to swim! The second family I worked for had two 6 month old twins and I worked 24/7 alongside the mother in ALL the duties for the boys.
After I graduated I worked as a carer for a quadriplegic male where I worked 24/7 to help with his full routine including getting him dressed, cooking, cleaning, driving and personal care. I also helped a mother who had an incomplete spinal injury with house duties. With both these jobs, I helped looked after their children whenever necessary.
During my time in Australia, I worked as an au pair for two families with children aged 0-7 years. I also volunteered at the local hospital assisting on the wards and worked at a children's camp one day a week.
I gained the equivalent to 12 GCSEs when I left school all above grade C.
I have an up to date First Aid certificate, Level 3 Communication Key skill and Level 1 IT key skill.
I gained triple distinction in my Btec in Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 3.
I graduated with a 2.1 in BA (Hons) in Music
I am available now and would prefer full-time work - but I am open to ALL options at the moment.
