Atta started working as a nanny to our son D in November 2014. D was only 15 months old at the time. She has been an excellent caregiver to him in every possible way. She is very responsible – I never have to worry about D’s safety and well-being when she is caring for him. Now that she drives him to the school, I can rest easy knowing she will not be on her phone while driving. She is extremely reliable, having missed only three days in the course of more than three years due to illness. I can set the clock by her arrival at 6:30 am as she is never late.
She allows very little screen time for D and prefers to either play with him or work on reading/writing/math when they are home. She and D spend a lot of time outside the house regardless of the weather which we think is brilliant. Unless it is pouring rain or D is sick, they spend five or six hours outside the house (not on school days obviously) – in the park or at the library. She is very conscious about food choices and I never have to worry about her giving D any junk food. She makes his meals from scratch and makes sure he gets enough fruits and vegetables.
Atta is very organized and disciplined and she tries to teach D to be the same way by teaching him to keep his toys tidy, saying please-s and thank you-s, following routines and schedules diligently. Last but not the least, she is warm and affectionate toward D even as she is strict in teaching him manners. D loves and adores her. The only reason we are choosing to let her go is that we only need fifteen hours of childcare a week now, with D in school most of the day, and Atta needs a fulltime position. D will miss her dearly but we hope to keep in touch.
