My name is Dawn Chadwick and I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since September 2008 graded as OUTSTANDING and registered to provide funded early education for two, three and four year olds. I work from my home on a quiet cul-de-sac in Edgeley, Stockport that is close to the train station, motorway links and Alexandra Park Primary school. I live with my partner and my two children who enjoy helping me to make the families I work with feel welcome and valued members of our setting.
Childminding is an important part of my life and I find it very rewarding to help children achieve their developmental goals whilst building their confidence and independence. As a parent myself I understand the importance of finding childcare that you are happy and comfortable with therefore I am committed to working in partnership with families to build positive relationships with all involved. My setting offers children a friendly, safe, home-from-home environment but most of all FUN!
In order to help me meet your child’s needs I often attend relevant training courses. I also have CRB enhanced clearing, a full, clean UK driving license and my own transport which is insured for business use and I have public liability insurance through Morton Michel.
With 15 years experience as a mother and 11 years as a childminder I have gained plenty of skills to help a child develop into a caring and confident young person. My home offers resources and activities for children of all ages with daily outdoor play experiences.
My activities are based on learning through play to incorporate the 7 areas of leaning, this is to ensure your child thrives and achieves in preparation for school. I will complete an individual learning journal for each child which is regularly shared with parents to show their progress, it will also include pictures of the fun times and experiences your child has had whilst in my care.
Here is a list of the qualifications I have gained and training courses I have attended so far:
Level 3 diploma in home-based childcare
Paediatric first aid
Level 2 Food safety in catering
Safeguarding and common assessment framework

Awareness of Domestic Violence and Abuse

Dawn provided full time childcare for my two daughters for 3 years. The setting and provision provided are Outstanding and the family environment gave our two the comfort, compassion and stimulation I would offer if I was able to stay at home. Dawn became one of the family and we were gutted when we had to switch childminders due to me getting a new job. I agree with previous reviews that Dawn offers so much more than a nursery, as she really does give a personal experience for all the children in her care. Every day we dropped the girls off they ran into her house and when we collected them in the evening, they wanted to show us all that they had been up to. I can not recommend Dawn enough! I’ll always be greatful for all she did for our family.
My girl, now 28 months old, has been going to Dawn's since she's turned 1. I was very sceptical towards childminders before she started with Dawn, hence we had her in nursery one day a week and four days at Dawn's (as the nursery just wasn't flexible at all with their timings). After a few months we noticed though, that our girl got way, WAY more out of being with Dawn, than being at the nursery (a very well known and well regarded nursery that was, too). Dawn just manages to do so much with the kids. She's got a little group, so the children have the interaction with other children (our girl especially loves being with younger ones, to care for them, older ones, to learn from them, and same aged ones, to be mischievous with), but has enough time to give every child special attention, too. Not that I at all think my girl needs special attention, but at nursery she was one of 30 and there they really couldn't go out as much or focus on one child as much as Dawn can and does. After only a few months we took our girl out of nursery and ever since she's with Dawn every day. She is developing fantastically and is just loving, going to Dawn's. I can honestly not recommend Dawn enough!
My daughter has been going to Dawns since she was about 4 months old and is now 2. Its like a second home for her she loves going and been around all the other children. Can not ask for a better carer for my child everyday I get a written notes of everything she has done that day from activities, to meals, and sleep times. At the end of every term you also get a learning journey of everything your child has been up to whilst been with Dawn, I love getting it! So detailed with what your child is up to with development, character and plenty of photos absolutely brilliant! Can not recommend highly enough!
I have used dawn for all 3 of my children and they loved going to her
My first son went with dawn from being nearly 2 he loved going because of all
The activities dawn did with him then my daughter joined him
Till she was 2 unfortunately we moved further away so we had to put them
In different daycare but I had another boy and we wanted him to have the same experience as the first two so he went to dawn as well for 3 months! Iv recently got a new job so my daughter and youngest are going back to dawn as she is also very flexible as I needed early start late finish. I would recommend dawn to anybody and so would my children she knows what she is doing and is the best at it :)
