I run a small childminding business (Sarah's Childminding) from my home in Rosebery Avenue, Yeovil, for up to three Early Years children, and picking up from Reckleford School. I offer a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment where children can play and learn in a relaxed atmosphere and have their individual needs met.
I live with my long-standing partner who works in the emergency department of Yeovil hospital, and my two daughters aged 15, who are doing very well at secondary school. My son is studying for a degree at Oxford University. We also have a small dog (Bichon Frise x Schnauzer)!
The setting is comprised of most of the downstairs of my semi-detached home. There is a large garden where children can help to grow and harvest vegetables, observe the wildlife, and of course play. Beyond the gate into the larger part of the garden, there are fruit trees and bushes, a large playhouse, the animal enclosure, and a trampoline and swings.
Indoors we have the conservatory which is used for many activities from painting to small world play, and sometimes picnics on a rainy day! There is also the dining room which is used for craft activities, play dough and mark-making. This is also where we sometimes do music making using a range of instruments. Also a laptop computer is made available on occasion, and there is a role-play corner.
The lounge is for quieter activities - we sing nursery rhymes, have small world toys, jigsaw puzzles, construction toys, board games, and stories. In the kitchen we like to have cooking activities, learning about healthy eating and food from around the world.
I have ten years professional childcare experience including in a local pre-school and an infant school in Yeovil. I have been registered as a childminder since October 2015 and on my Ofsted inspection in February 2018 I was given Outstanding.

My son has been going to Sarah's since he was 11 months old. He is starting school in September and he has learnt so much from Sarah I can't thank her enough. Sarah is a brilliant childminder. She has a caring way with the children and in my eye's I think she is the best. Sarah has outstanding from ofsted and I can see why. She welcomes the children into her home as if it is their own home. My son asks everyday is he going to Sarah's and gets upset when he's not. Sarah has a brilliant setting with lot's of outdoor space for the children getting involved with her vegetable patch and lots of outdoor toys and lots of garden to play in. My son learnt to hold a pen at a young age and wright his name, he knew his colours at a young age too , all thanks to sarah. There is so much more to say how fantastic sarah is. I'm just glad my son went to sarah's. She's A*
Sarah is a great childminder and teacher. My little boy was in the care of Sarah for a year during our working hours and he learnt so much.
Sarah always encourages outdoor activities which alot of nurseries within Yeovil lack (outdoor space). Sarah is very patient and follows the national curriculum.
My then 2 year old loved his time with Sarah and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
