About Me

I am currently fostering social worker. In addition I have 10 years experience of teaching childhood studies and other subjects in colleges and adult provisions. I have experience of working with young people, adults and families from a wide range of backgrounds. I have taught in different childcare contexts such as Children Centres, Crèche’s, Schools and Community Centres within my role as a family learning tutor. I have a excellent knowledge of how children learn and develop, current legislation, policies and procedures and how meet children care needs in both my roles as a teacher and social worker. I am committed to creating and maintaining a friendly, welcoming and safe working environment. I have recently completed a Masters in Social Work. At the moment I am working full time as a social worker but am interested in doing some babysitting or private tutoring.

Within this role I lecture to Adults students, I have taught on the Childhood Studies, Employability, Functional Skills Literacy and Interpersonal Skills programme from Entry level 1 to Level 2. I follow the NOCN, NCFE and City and Guilds curriculum. I am responsible for managing my own course. I plan and deliver using the syllabus as a guidance. I regularly have to liaise with colleagues and other professionals as part of my planning process. Lifelong learning have ‘Outstanding’ beacon status by Ofsted. For this reason they are very strict and have very high standards to deliver high teaching and learning. This is why I am proud to say that during my recent teaching observation in March 2015 I got awarded a Grade 1 'Outstanding' again. I am also the Lead teacher on a pilot project, called Pathways to Traineeships; this curse is aimed at NEET learners. I am responsible for the development, running and effectiveness of the course. Within this role I manage other tutors, different cohorts and continuously monitor the effectiveness of the course. I also have two full coaching days where I offer the learner pastoral support, to enable them to develop soft skills to actively seek employment.

Within this role I was personal tutor for SEM (Jewish boarding school) and Entry level 3, Childcare learners. I taught on the Child Studies curriculum on all levels and follow the BTEC, NCFE, City and Guilds curriculum. I have excellent subject knowledge about Child Studies, and I was recently praised about this on a recent observation. Within my role I completed a range of paperwork, marked assignments, offered learners pastoral support, IV (internal verify) assignments. This demonstrates that I have great administrative skills and can organise my own workload as I was responsible for Entry Level 3 curriculum. As teacher I have had to deal with parents, public and other professionals on a daily basis, for example during open days I spoke to the general public about courses we offer, eligibility and provisions for additional support if they need it. As tutor I have also had to attend many events such open days, parents evening, interview evenings and other marketing events to advertise the college. For example recently I was at a Skills Show Open event at Manchester Central, here I had to use various communication methods to engage with the audience and I was also responsible for raising awareness about the college and all the course and provisions we offer for perspective students. This event lasted two days and I had an interactive stall with different resources to entice potential learners. Within my role as a teacher I have been an advocate for organising many successful whole college charity events within the college context. For example I have organised talents shows for Children in Need, cake stalls for Syria, car wash for Sports Relief, coffee mornings for Macmillion, this involved working with professionals to successful organise a whole college charity event. My role at the college was more than teaching the curriculum but meeting the holistic needs of the learners and it involved working with other professional, parents and the general public, this role enhanced my interpersonal skills.

Within this role I lectured to post 16 students. I was given the opportunity to teach a diverse range of students for example I taught on the Early Years level 3, Health and Social Care level 3, Multi Professional Cadet Scheme, level 3 and Introductory to Health and Social Care. I followed the CACHE and BTEC curriculum guidance, I am familiar with following the curriculum syllabus when delivering the units. I have exceptional organisational skills as I have to have lesson plans, schemes of work, and differentiated resources for each session. During my time at the college I got graded a Grade 1 in my first OTL, which is an ‘Outstanding’. I am also a great team player as I had to liaise with other lecturers and attend team meetings regularly.

Within this setting it was my role to support individual needs of the student by providing effective support, to help the student achieve higher. I encouraged the learners to use transferable skills and helped them to set SMART targets to enhance the students learning. I used initial assessment to diagnosis their level and ILP (individual learning plans) to record their progress. Within this role I liaised regularly with lecturers and supported students on a 1:1 as well as in a group context. Within this role I also lectured Personal Safety Awareness to Sixth form schools. This involved working closely with local schools within the Northamptonshire region, as the PSA course was only short 12-week course.

My role was to meet the care needs of children aged 0-5. I followed the current curriculum then which was Birth to Three Matters and Foundation stage as a guide to help me provide a stimulating learning environment. There were many legislations and codes of practices that I had to adhere to provide ‘best practice’, for I had to adhere to The Data Protection Act 1998 and keep all information safe, secure and confidential. I dealt with parents on a daily basis, as I had to sign children in and out. Towards the end of my experience at Leap frog I was the Higher Level Nursery Nurse, where I had responsibilities such as planning and working with parents.
