Hello London! - I'm now staying in Highbury with my family during lockdown and looking like I will be here for the foreseeable future. Looking for one family to work with.
I am completely free and would be happy to be flexible with hours. I can do evenings/weekends and overnight care as well as your general working week!
Worth mentioning is I am currently shielding with my dad who is of a high risk category. If your family is also shielding or any one is high risk I can offer a complete guarantee of no contact to the outside world. However, I've found it tricky to find a job under those parameters so I am thinking to move in with a friend so that I can be more open to "normal" levels of contact with the outside! Happy to discuss either situation for the right family.
My ideal charge would caring for a baby (or babies) or young toddler(s) or a child with special needs.
OLD AD FROM MY PRE COVID LIFE HERE:
I am 26 and an experienced (Ofsted Registered) nanny. I also am a pianist and choral leader having completed a music degree at Sussex University (2015 grad). I have worked with children since I was 13 - children are our future afterall - and I believe our life's greatest achievement is to nurture and support our next generation.
I am gentle, calm, competent and free-spirited. I believe in a child-led approach to childcare. Exploring the world through the child's eyes are generally how days are spent - finding out about the children in my care and what they like and who they are - creating gentle boundaries for them so they can find their freedom. Music and singing, arts and crafts and other creative pursuits are generally what I find us doing. I also like us to spend as much time as possible exploring outside in parks/ at the beach/ walks in the wood etc. I also love a baby/toddler group and soft play where children can be sociable as well as learning many other skills.
Pre covid I was working 4 days a week with a 4 month old, 3 year old & 5 year old (primarily the baby as the elder children are at school) and one day with a 2 year old. I was actively working closely with EYFS and KS1 teachers on their home schooling and I would be able to support children with their curricular activities as well as play activities and exploration.
I've worked as a full time nanny for 5 years with children from newborn to 9 year olds (including twins from 11 months -2.5years). The majority of my nanny placements have started when the children were 1 or under 1 so I have lots of experience with infants.
Alongside this since I was 13 I have been doing temporary childcare such as babysitting and nursery bank staff, festival & hotel nannying and other ad-hoc overnight care.
I have 11 summers experience of working with children and young adults with special needs (including learning disabilities, autism, developmental delay, mental health issues and more)
I have an experiential wealth of knowledge about babies and toddlers and their needs. I always follow excellent care practices and I have a clear understanding of child development and how the EYFS's 7 stages of learning supports them.
As a nanny I like to have a relationship with the entire family as well as just the child/ren. Having the nanny work alongside a family gives the child a clear sense of security and models good relationships and helps with creating healthy attachments. I have supported families where post-natal depression and other challenges have been around - I am under no illusion that bringing up children is easy and I would be both your support and cheerleader!
As well as basic nursery duties I am happy to support you with - or take responsibly for - creating a routine for your baby, how to spot patterns in their wants & needs, what they need in their current developmental stage, how best to encourage with development in play/learning environment, transitional phases, help with behavioural difficulties, good sleep hygiene practices, bottle feeding (formula and breast milk), weaning techniques, potty training and more! Most importantly probably is that I treat every child I look after as if they were my own.
I am also a piano teacher! If you have a piano that is a bonus for everyone!
