About Me

I am currently a full-time Nanny to twins just outside of Sevenoaks. I have a professional, warm, positive, energetic and sociable nature. I have a recent DBS and excellent references, a full UK driving licence and access to my own car.

After having my own two children (who are now happy, thriving teenagers attending Wilmington Grammar schools), I realised that my ideal choice of career would be working with children. I undertook a Childhood Studies degree which focussed on child development and the theory of how children learn. I have since worked with a variety of age groups from 18 months – 12 years.

Personally, I love all sports, am a member of my local gym and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. I am very interested in nutrition and am committed to giving children the best start in life. As a qualified Forest Schools practitioner (which is a Scandinavian outdoor educational concept) I am passionate about children learning outdoors through visits to local parks and woodland areas. I have brought my own two children up to love the outdoors, respect nature, be creative, independent and have high self-esteem.

Dec 2011 – Feb 2015
The Children’s Workshop, Nursery/Pre school Sevenoaks, Kent
2-4 year olds

Position Held: Manager

I was recruited as Deputy Manager and was quickly promoted to Manager.
• As a key person, I was responsible for the personal care and development of a small group of children. This included building a strong relationship with them and ensuring that they felt safe and secure whilst making progress in all areas of development.
• As Manager, I introduced new systems and procedures and established a focus on parental partnership and outdoor learning through the Forest School ethos and trained as a Level 2 Forest Schools practitioner.
• I also worked hard to develop strong links with local schools. This enabled me to develop systems that ensured our leavers were always ‘school ready’. We regularly visited the school and I worked with the Reception teachers to develop criteria for assessing school readiness.
• I delivered a curriculum that covered all areas of learning but most importantly exciting, stimulating and challenging experiences for all (with a focus on reading and writing for children moving to Reception class).
• When behavioural and cognitive concerns arose, I worked closely with KCC specialists to ensure support was in place via the SEN referral system. I have a sound understanding of behaviour management strategies.
