Hello, my name is Jo, I am 41 years old and I have been married for almost 15years. We have two daughters, aged 11 years and 6 years. We practice attachment/gentle parenting and I tend to follow gentle approaches within my nanny families too.
I am a very calm, caring and patient person, who loves being involved in the development of children, using a child led approach to nurture those in my care.
I am gentle in my approach, especially with regards to behaviour, sleep and mealtimes and I prefer to use evidence based practices in my work. I have a knowledge and experience of safe babywearing, baby sign language (signalong), cloth nappies and breastfeeding/infant feeding support, having qualified as a breast feeding peer supporter in 2015 (previously volunteered on the local maternity unit at the hospital).
I love working as a nanny, being involved in the day to day life and aiding and encouraging the development of little ones in my care.

Daily Nanny to one little boy, currently aged 3.5 years.
All nanny duties, encouragement and support of his development and taking to appropriate activities.
This little one is sadly starting school this year, so I am no longer required.

Temporary nanny/support to Home educating family for their 3 children; aged 18 months, 5 and 12 years, also their cousin, aged approx 20 months.

Cared for this families 3 children (2 pre school aged) bringing my youngest daughter with me in addition
Their family was growing and due to changes in the family's circumstances, they no longer required a nanny.
??August 2010- October 2016
I was a daily nanny with this family for 6 years, from 2010-2016, bringing my daughter with me. They had a second child and then I also returned from maternity leave with my second daughter. This position ended when their youngest child started school, after I had helped in settling her with the transition. This family were very much more than a nanny position, as our children grew up together. We are still in touch now.

My Experience
I have 20 years experience working with children, since qualifying as a nursery nurse in 2001, starting my childcare career in a private nursery.
I then worked as a childrens support worker in a domestic violence refuge from 2003-2005, for a 2 year funded period, supporting families who had left abusive situations and providing play sessions for the children.
I started my career as a private Childrens nanny in 2005.
I love working within a family, where I can help each child to grow and develop in a much more personal environment.
I have experienced all ages from newborns, up to age 15 years, working sole charge within nanny families in their homes in a day to day capacity and also in loco parentis, caring for children whilst their parents were out of the country.
I have also worked in a shared care capacity too;in one position working as a post natal nanny support, supporting Mum with twin newborns and supporting her with breastfeeding and housekeeping duties and another temporary role which involved closely supporting the parents of twin 18 month olds and a young baby, caring for all their needs on a round trip to Australia.
As a nanny, I come to your home and will work around you, your family and your requirements, doing school runs, taking children to activities/classes and providing age appropriate activities and play within their own home.
I have experience with cooking healthy, varied meals for the children in my care and happy to menu plan or work with parents to cook meals of their choice.

I hold a NNEB ( nursery nursing diploma), qualified in 2001
Play work NVQ qualification, levels 1/2/3
Safeguarding
Paediatric first aid (updated 2020)
Breastfeeding peer supporter levels 1 and 2
Various other training courses/portfolio available upon interview
Up to date/rolling DBS
Clean driving license/car owner/business insurance to carry children in my care
My Availability
I am available from September 2021.
I have availability for a position of around 25-30 hours
Willing to consider wrap around care/nanny housekeeper roles/holiday care etc.
