Not currently looking. I am a 30-year-old nanny, with 9 years experience. I am currently on maternity leave with a 5 month old daughter, who was born in September. I am looking for a part time role from may/June 2023.
I have a psychology degree and have a keen interest in children’s learning and development, and love to come up with new and exciting fun things to do! I am very active, and love all things relating to fitness and a healthy lifestyle, with spin, yoga and healthy eating being particular passions! I also love to be creative, and find lots of hands on activities to do with children, ranging from role play to arts and crafts to building a fort in the woods! I enjoy working with children and am able to form strong relationships quickly, where I focus my approach on the needs specific to each child, rather than generalising children’s needs. I am confident with working with a range of ages, and have experience with physical and learning disabilities, although I am very passionate about the importance of the early years (0-5) and encouraging the development that occurs at this age. My communication skills are strong, and I am a good listener and am patient, understanding that children have different levels of development and communication, and that this needs to be encouraged rather than rushed. I understand that days do not always go as planned when working with children, and I am able to be adaptable to suit the situation. I have faced most challenges that children present, and so am not easily fazed!
My Experience
I have 9 years experience, starting off as a special needs nanny for a teenage girl who has cerebral palsy, with additional communication, physical and learning needs. I started working with her while a student and have continued to do so in both part and full time capacities.This role includes sole charge care, including all aspects of personal care, arranging social activities, help with physiotherapy, gym work and athletics training (last year she competed at the paralympics in Rio!) The role also included assistance with all aspects of housekeeping, cooking meals and general facilitation of living an independent life! I have also worked for 10 months in Sydney, Australia as a nanny to 3 children aged 6,3 and 22months. This was a sole charge role with all nursery duties and some light housekeeping included. I also worked sole charge overnight while the parents were away up to 48hrs. I also spent a year nannying for two lovely four year old twin boys, where i had sole charge with nursery duties and some housekeeping while the boys are at nursery. My previous role was as a full time sole charge nanny for a 2 and 5 yr old girls, and I am currently on leave from my role caring for 3 boys aged 7,11 and 14, with all the usual nursery duties, homework and school runs!
My Qualifications
I have a 2:1 BSc. Psychology with Honours from the University of Birmingham, and have also taken the OCN Level 3 Common Core Skills and Knowledge qualification as part of my OFSTED registration. I am also paediatric first aid trained, DBS checked and have a full clean driving licence.
My Availability
I'd be open to consider any combination of hours, ideally a minimum of 20hrs a week but may be able to offer more for the right family (or an option to bring my daughter if it suits).
