Full Time Nanny/ PA
May 2016 to March 2020
Hockley, Essex
My duty of care was to look after two young boys. My most important role to the family was to provide support to their youngest child, who has severe Special Educational Needs. He has been diagnosed with Emotional Behavior Disorder, Autism, Torests syndrome , Muscular Dystrophy and Hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD). I had a very close relationship with this child and over the years, I made a positive influence on his life which has contributed to the developments and changes in the family's life and mine in many ways. I was responsible for all hospital appointments for this child which I then had to ensure fits in with their mothers busy schedule. It was solely my responsibility to inform the family of any changes in school, for example his behavior plan that the school has implemented. I was always creating activities for the child to be able to foster the independence he needed in which to learn and grow as an individual. I worked very hard to ensure that the eldest child was included as much as possible, as it could be very challenging at times with the youngest child’s needs being so demanding. It was my duty of care to see that the eldest child was up in the mornings, washed and dressed and ready for his school day. I provide educational support to the eldest child by ensuring he attended his tutoring and all extracurricular activities. This had a great impact on his education which allowed him to exceed his school year expectations. A key part of my role was to ensure that both children were provided with fresh nutritious meals. I provide this to them by planning their meals and cooking them both homemade dinners with fresh ingredients. I was able to provide them with nutritious meals as I suffer with food intolerances and have a good understanding of nutrition. When working for this particular family it was expected of me to travel with them in order to support them with their youngest child’s needs and to allow the family Respite. I believe being a Nanny who is able to travel requires a specific set of skills. Day - to - day management of family administration for the mother.
