About Me
I became a childminder in 1992, I have two grown up children. I have enjoyed being a childminder and offer a high quality of childcare. I am Ofsted registered and I have attained the Hertfordshire Quality Standards accreditation in Childcare and have attained the NVQ3 in Children's Learning and Development. I have also attained first aid, food hygiene and many other courses.
I offer a warm, caring, friendly environment where the children are safe and happy to play, learn and become confident.
I promote the Early Years Foundation stage, offering a variety of toys, equipment and outings according to the children's age and ability.
I have a large well equipped garden with a covered play area and go on regular outings to the park, woods etc.
I believe that my relationship with the child's parent is equally as important and I am always happy to discuss any concerns or issues you may have.
I keep a daily two-way diary for each child, which I send home each evening, recording their activities and outings during the day, food, sleep etc.
I send parents lots of photos on a regular basis.
I do pick ups and drop offs at Merryhill Infant and Ashfield Junior Schools.

Normal Opening Hours 7am - 5.30pm. Opening hours can be altered due to each individual needs.

- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
- Childminding from £6.25 per hour
I am approved and accept two and three/four year old early education funding. I also accept childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare funding

Firstly I would like to thank Karen for the wonderful care she gives to both of my children! They have thrived in her care from day one and I have complete peace of mind when dropping them off every morning, knowing that they will be safe and well looked after during the day.
The children are in a lovely, child friendly environment with ample opportunities to explore and experiment with new experiences. Karen has set a great routine, balancing exiting outings and group activities with a predicable structure.
Nothing is ever too much hassle and Karen is always ready to support our family wherever she can, making sure my daughter is at school, on time and ready to learn. She is also there promptly to collect her at the end of the day and to pass on any messages the school might send home.
I am also especially impressed by the varied diet of healthy home cooked meals they have every day. The children are able to try new types of food and they are taught how to make healthy choices.
I am kept up to date through daily conversations at home time as well as the children’s individual diaries. The learning journal that are sent home periodically keeps me informed about the progress my toddler is making and the photo messages I receive, keeps me up to date with what he is enjoying and makes me feel part of his experiences although I can’t be there myself.
Karen has looked after both my children since they were just over 8 months old and after almost 5 years with her, I still feel it was the best decision for us as a family. Not only does my children feel like Karen is an extension of our family, they also love Ian, Tom and Toni (and Evie the rabbit!)
I have often recommended Karen to friends and acquaintances and I will continue to do so as the care she provides is absolutely outstanding!

Our 19 month old daughter has been going to Karen for the last 10 months. We are really happy with how she has become more confident and made some lovely friends at Karen's. We get daily updates of what she has done, who she was playing with, what food she's eaten etc. Karen also keeps us updated with the odd photo of activities she has done such as making a pizza one day! Photos were especially helpful at the start during the settling in stage to reassure us that she settled and had fun without us!
Karen always provides lovely meals and snacks I don't know when she has time to cook all these delicious meals.
Karen is always flexible with times which is really helpful too.
We would recommend Karen to anyone.
