About Me
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a friendly and approachable former primary school teacher with 10 years experience of teaching both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children of all abilities including those with SEN. During my teaching career, I have gained experience of teaching every primary year group which gives me a great knowledge of the curriculum requirements for that age, as well as knowing where children need to be academically before transitioning to the next school year.
I am familiar with and have prepared children for the KS1 and KS2 SATs assessments which they take in year 2 and year 6. I have previously taken the 11+ myself as I attended a grammar school and am able to also offer 11+ tutoring if needed. I pride myself on my patience and ability to support the needs of each individual child to ensure they gain the skills and confidence to succeed and make great progress. I have a lot of experience working with children of all abilities and personalities and I enjoy helping children achieve their potential in a fun and engaging way.
I am also available for occasional babysitting and childcare on some evenings and weekends and as a teacher can offer a range of engaging and stimulating activities whilst caring for your child.
My Experience
I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages and abilities. I am a qualified primary school teacher with 10 years experience of teaching all subjects to both KS1 and KS2 children, including those with special educational needs such as dyslexia, autism and global delay. I have a full up to date knowledge of the national curriculum objectives which are used to teach and test children. I also have experience of both KS1 and KS2 SATs and of the year 1 phonics screening test. I am experienced in offering targeted catch up interventions and extra support to children who need it to help them gain more confidence in the classroom. I am Read Write Inc trained in teaching reading and writing using proven synthetic phonics strategies.
I am a certified OLEVI coach offering mentoring and assistance to colleagues within my school.
