About Me
I've been a teacher for 12 years as well as a SENCo (special needs co-ordinator). My teaching was rated as 'outstanding' by Ofsted. I am passionate about helping children to read and have gained excellent results which are above national average in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check at the school where I work. I am able to target teaching and interventions to help boost children of all abilities, being very experienced in Key Stage 1. I have also taught in KS2 and have a super understanding of the curriculum and SATs expectations across all subjects.
I am also experienced in teaching piano and keyboard privately to children, and my students have successfully passed exams in both practical and theory. I have four children myself so understand them! I build rapport quickly, even with the most challenging of children. I currently work in a primary school. I also hold a current First Aid certificate and have attended recent Safeguarding training.
My Experience
12 years primary teaching. 5 years experience tutoring in piano practical and theory. Currently a Year 1 teacher, but have taught in both KS1 and KS2. Mother of four, who are now teenagers.
My Qualifications
MSc in Applied Psychology; Bachelors degree in Social Policy; PGCE Primary Education; National Award for SEN Coordination; Grades 1-7 in piano (practical); Grades 1-5 in piano theory.
My Availability
Weekends mainly but could consider 5pm onwards weekdays. When babysitting, I will provide learning opportunities for your child, help them with reading or any schoolwork - not just put them in front of the TV!
