Horrible experience

Horrible experience with Maysa. She gave a notice of termination of contract on 5th April effective from 29th April. We were paying her £600 per month for 3 hours of childcare per day. My spouse had some informal discussion with her for reduced number of hours (1.5 hours). But just 3 days before (on 26th April) she said she doubling her rates effective from 29th April and asked my spouse whether she still wants to continue which she clearly refused. My spouse forgot to cancel her automatic payment of £600 and now Maysa refusing to pay back the money saying that it is in lieu of notice. There was no agreement, no written contract and earlier contract was cancelled. Illegally holding our £600.
We were paying more than her normal rates, rarely sent child during school holidays, paid during her sickness of almost a month around
Christmas. Even paid for hour for just 15 minutes of childcare during mornings earlier.
If you want to use this childminder, be absolute clear about contract and terms.

The client was contracted to a legal obligation which states the terms and conditions of the agreement, including the specified time required to give notice to quit. Please revert to your copy of the contract which specifies the agreement, fees and payment arrangements.

£600 was not due to be refunded back to you as you only gave 3 days notice to quit. I am sorry that you feel this way and would like to wish you all the best with future childcare arrangements.
