Hi
My name is Liane and I am pleased to offer babysitting services in the Teignbridge and Torbay areas.
Some information you may wish to know about me is that I am 29 years old and I live in Teignbridge with my husband of 8 years, our son (5), our little dog and 6 chickens!
I am a Home Educating Mum and stay at home to be with my son to provide his education. Before I stayed at home my professional working life was mainly dominated in the care sector before I became a Mum. I hold a Level 3 QCF in Health and Social care and have over 13 years experience as a care & support worker, over 5 of those years were held in management positions too. I loved working with adults over 18, predominately 65 +, caring for others is a massive passion and love of mine. However, once I had my son I have also held numerous positions working with children, particularly babies and toddlers under aged 5. I took up a role of Class Leader within the local Baby sensory Torbay franchise and absolutely loved providing enriching classes to over 200 babies and parents per week during the year of 2019. As well as being able to engage with the babies and be a part of their development, I was able to be a sympathetic ear and support to parents when needed and that was wonderful to be someone they felt they could talk too. I did even dress up as a Teletubbie for the babies in one class, but thankfully photographic evidence seems to be missing . After Baby Senory I worked with Water Babies as a Marketing Administrator. My role involved communicating with parents, poolside helping, photographing little ones for marketing and dressing up as George pig for splashathon (that is recorded by photo evidence). My latest role now as well as Home Educating Mum is a seasonal event Marshall on the Polar Express! Santa was my boss (December 22) and I loved it! To make kids smile and be a part of magical memories their families will cherish was incredible.

So enough about me. Why choose me as your baby sitter. I consider myself a gentle and respectful parent. This does not mean I am passive when around children. All adults can be firm yet we can do it with a kind, caring and compassionate manner too e.g “I know you want that cookie, and it’s so hard when we can’t get what we want, but my answer is no.” To quote Dr Vanessa Lapointe ”We can be firm, but kind, we don’t have to be an ass*ole about it”. I read endless parenting and child psychology books in my spare time and feel very connected and understanding towards childrens feelings and behaviours as a result. I have a bubbly personality and enjoy being creative to find games and activities to do without to much dependence on screens (I am not anti screens by any means) but I’ll always encourage free play, board games or crafts as much as possible. I am respectful, reliable and dependable as a person and will always respect your home, your boundaries* and wishes.
I am DBS checked and frequently update my paediatric first aid as my son has a medical condition.

*Please note under NO circumstances will I follow a cry it out approach with a child. This is beyond how I am as a person and doesn’t sit comfortably with me. I do not judge anyone, but it is not something I will be part of. Your child will always be offered cuddles and hugs and a hand hold to go to sleep when in my care.
