A bit about me.
I'm Sherrie, 32 years old with two girls aged 15 and 6. My 15 year old is home educated and my 6 year old has just started year one.
I have experience working in nurseries and primary schools but decided my own morals and values are better suited to providing a unique learning experience for smaller groups of children. I am passionate about science, cooking and love to get lost in a good book. I enjoy being creative and my girls and I often do crafts or cook together. I believe children flourish when they are encouraged to experience, investigate and question their environment. I truly believe every child is unique, therefore I don't adopt one particular approach. I take inspiration from many schools of thought such as montessori, Reggio emelia, and a Scandinavian influence. My favourite phrase is 'teach children how to think, not what to think' and this is reflected in my home.
The majority of my experience is working with children who have SEN, I particularly enjoy coming up with creative play ideas which are multi sensory and give children a new perspective. I have worked in nurseries and primary schools, I have qualifications up to level 4 in; teaching phonics, ASD in schools, EBD, Early Years Foundation Stage, supporting teaching and learning in schools. I have also completed numerous continued professional development courses including working in partnership with parents, play, learning and the brain and early years environments. In the next year I will be continuing my professional development by completing more courses including; sensory to science, sensory processing, early literacy and early maths courses.
