About Me

I am a 23-year-old living in Streatham. I am currently working as artist in residence at a special school in Mitcham where I support and guide the children in art and plan and deliver workshops and projects. I also work as an after-school nanny. I am an artist and writer and have presented work in a number of exhibitions, conferences, and screenings. I love attending art exhibitions and watching films in my free time.

My Experience

I have extensive experience working with children from a variety of backgrounds, different ages, and some with special educational needs and disabilities.

I have babysat on an ad hoc basis since I was 14 and I have also worked on a regular basis as an after-school nanny. In this role, I looked after 3 French children aged 4, 6, and 10, for around 8 hours per week. I was responsible for picking them up from school, taking them to the playground, playing with them, practising English, supervising homework, and cooking basic meals.

I have some tutoring experience from working as a volunteer GCSE Maths tutor through the charity Action Tutoring. I was responsible for planning and delivering an hour-long lesson each week to three 16-year-olds.

I currently work as an artist in residence at a school for children with special educational needs and disabilities. I work 30 hours per week and I look after children aged between 4 and 19, in groups of up to 10. I am responsible for supervising the children in art and planning and delivering workshops and projects. Alongside this, I work as a nanny for a family with 3 children, aged 6, 9, and 10, for 12-16 hours/week.

My Qualifications

I hold a BA in Film and Television (1:1) from the University of Bristol and have just completed my MA in Contemporary Art and Archaeology (predicted distinction) at the University of the Highlands and Islands. I have 3 A Levels (2 A*s and 1 B) and achieved the University of Bristol Plus Award (an employability award that rewards extracurricular activity). I have an enhanced DBS check issued in November 2022. I have undertaken a course of safeguarding and behaviour training at the school I work in and have completed the National Autistic Society's Autism and Sensory Experience course and FutureLearn's Understanding Autism Course.

My Availability

I am available to work during the summer holidays, for up to 3 days a week. I already have some commitments so would need to work around those.

Harriet has looked after my two sons regularly for some years, both as a babysitter and during the day, as sole carer, when they were smaller. She was always my first choice, and I recommend her unreservedly as a really outstanding person. She is a lovely cheerful outgoing young woman, very easy to talk to, who can talk to any child about any subject (otters and football on the last visit) and has a lot of ideas of stimulating things to do. She enjoys her time with the children and gives them her full attention. She's extremely competent and capable and would have no difficulty dealing with a crisis or being firm if she needed to be. She also cycles everywhere and is fit. She is highly intelligent, from an academic family, and so she could certainly help with homework (including Spanish) if that was required. She's an excellent and enthusiastic cook who can provide nutritious meals as well as cooking with children: she has made delicious home-made pizzas with my boys, and could certainly make an iced birthday cake. And she is sensible, completely trustworthy and reliable and very engaging. She has my highest recommendation
