Hi, I am an OFSTED Registered Childminder. My last inspection was in October 2016 with a very successful outcome, available to see. I accept childcare Vouchers through Edenred, Care 4 or Computershare.
I collect and drop off to Tunbury School and Catkins Pre School. I have been childminding now for 11 years for children aged 6 months - 10 years.
I live in four bedroomed detached house in the beautiful Walderslade woods area which is very safe and peaceful.
I am married and have two wonderful boys aged 14 and 19 years. One attends a Grammar school at Rochester and the other one is at a local University.
We also have two persian cats called Kizzy and Lola who are fully vaccinated, flea treated just in case anyone is allergic to cats!
I consider myself to be a very safe childminder, I am fully aware of how easily accidents can happen.
I have a 7 seater people carrier which is insured for business use. However we do walk in good weather as its relatively easier than parking at Tunbury School and the exercise is good for the children which a lot of the parents are happy with. I am 10 mins walk from Tunbury school on a well used route.
For your child's safety also use passwords should any other people be collecting your child from me other than yourselves.
I provide a safe environment for your child to play providing arts and crafts, games, toys for all ages, outside play on decking.
I am within easy access of the M2 motorway and also local bus routes and Kings Ferry Coaches.
I have been a childminder for approximately 11 years and am enjoying it very much. I am quite an easy going person and children tend to feel very comfortable around me.
I have experience of dealing with children who suffer from asthma as my own son has this and would be able to recognise an asthma attack very easily.
My last inspection was November 2016 which was very successful and is available for any parents to see. My inspection clearly showed my ability to make sure your child is constantly observed and information recorded about you child's development under the Early Years Foundation Stage. My paperwork was described as robust and thorough with detailed policies covering all aspects of my childminding business. My safety and safeguarding policies are all clear and precise and are all available for parents to see. A copy of all my policies are sent to the parents upon your child accepting a place in my setting.
If you wish to come and see me please contact me first via e-mail and then we can arrange a time for you to visit and meet all the other children in my setting. I will then go through the paperwork and fees and advise you of how I work and what all the children like to do here. I will leave you to take away with you my Policy Statement and other notes and if you could then please let me know relatively soon (as vacancies can go quite quickly at the moment) if you wish to place your child with me. I would then arrange another visit for you to come back and sign all of the relevant safety permissions and contracts including details regarding your child's health, so please bring along your child's medical book showing what immunisations they have had as sometimes parents forget where they are with these. If there is anything that we have not discussed on our initial meeting relating to fees, times or anything else please contact me I am pretty flexible.
Before the commencement of the full contract I normally set 2-3 weeks settling period, this means that we can both see how your child copes within my setting and we have the option to end the arrangement during that time if you or I feel that your child would not be happy in my setting. I feel that this is advantageous on both sides.
I currently use PACEY Contracts and Attendance Records. I have all the Policies and procedures in place for you to view on an initial visit to my setting.
I am also a member of a Childminding Group..
I am Registered with Ofsted and PACEY as a Registered Childcare Practitioner.
I have a First Aid qualitifcation and again these are available to see upon an initial visit.
I have been inspected by the Kent Fire Brigade in order for a fire safety check the outcome of which was low risk. On this visit they also installed all new fire alarms.
I have a Public Liability Insurance with Royal and Sun Alliance.
I am also fully compliant with all the EYFS Regulations and will observe and asses your child (under 5) under the EYFS guidelines and will provide you with a report on your child for you to chieck your child's progress.
I collect and drop off to Tunbury Primary School, Catkins or Smilers pre school.
I accept childcare vouchers via Edenred, Care 4 or Computershare.
I will take full or part-time placements and term time only children.
I am also available for holiday cover only should a parent require this at short notice.
I currently accept children from age 3 and school reception through to year 6 children but please contact me.
Availability for Tunbury School starters September.

Honestly I cannot recommend Shirley enough. My daughter always looks forward to being picked up by Shirley after school and enjoys the other children's company and the cats :D. Shirley is also a wonderful lady who you can get along with and know that your child is safe in her care! highly recommended
Shirley has been the childminder for my 2 sons for the last 4 years and she has been amazing! The boys love her and enjoy going round to her house and have also made good friends with some of the other children she looks after. She has looked after them during the day before they started pre-school, and then when they joined Catkins and then Tunbury School, always dropping them off and picking them up on time. I've always been 100% confident in her taking care of them and never had to worry about anything. She would always let me know if there was anything she was concerned with if either of the boys started to feel or look unwell. Also, in the 4 years she has had the boys she has not had to cancel looking after them once, and any odd days holiday she takes are communicated well in advance. I would highly recommend Shirley if you're looking for childcare in this area, she is professional, reliable, trustworthy and the kids are more than happy with her and happy going round to her house.
We have been using Shirley for over 4 years for wrap around care and school drop offs and pick ups. Shirley has a great way with children and is a very honest and reliable childminder. She has always been a great communicater and always would let us know far in advance of any changes to the usual schedule, which wasnt often anyway. Thanks a million Shirley, you have been a tremendous help.
My daughter has been with Shirley for over two years and she absolutely loves going there after school. Shirley is wonderful and I feel safe knowing my daughter is in such safe hands.
