I first met Mavis Addo-Pappoe shortly after I had my first baby.
I had gone through a difficult pregnancy with several complications. And so it was a particularly challenging time.
As a first time mother, my knowledge about pregnancy and looking after a new born baby was limited.
Mavis helped me to gain confidence in caring for my baby and showed me how to make the necessary adjustments in my life. For example I had no idea how to perform certain tasks such as giving baby a bath. Breastfeeding was also quite difficult initially. Mavis walked me through these as well as countless others day to day tasks. As a direct result of her support, I we were able to establish and adhere to a routine.

She provided me with advice on how to care for myself physically and mentally. She listened to my concerns and encouraged me. She was very resourceful. For example, she provided me with details of my local children and family services. Through which I was able to access several mother and baby classes.

Mavis was caring and compassionate. She helped me to get my confidence back at a time when I sometimes felt overwhelmed. For example, there was a time when I dreaded going out simply because I thought I would not be able to breastfeed my baby. She helped me explore various options and after going out a few times, It was no longer an issue. I now have valuable life long skills because of the help and support I received from Mavis. Her service was exceptional.
