About Me

Hi! My name is Henrietta and I am a 29 year old school teacher. I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Psychology from Glasgow University, and then in 2019 from Northumbria University with my PGDE. I enjoy being outside, baking and being creative, and most of all- having fun! Recently, amongst teaching, I have worked for Barracudas and Energy Kidz summer camps, as well as leading a branch of the NCS programme and working at summer camp in America, and working with children on a volunteer programme in Sri Lanka. I also have extensive babysitting and nannying experience and am a qualified swimming teacher. I enjoy being around children and always try to make sure they are having fun, trying something new or keeping active!

My Experience

I am currently working as a Head of Science in a local prep school, prior to this I was working as a secondary school Science teacher, but I also have a lot of experience working with younger children. I have worked at two holiday camps, one as a camp manager, in charge of all other staff and responsible for the wellbeing of all children on camp, and the other as the senior sports instructor where I was responsible for providing a fun timetable of activities for children aged 4-14. I was responsible for large groups of teenagers on the NCS programme last summer.

I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old, including some families who I babysat for until I graduated in 2016. I also have experience doing some daytime nannying, entertaining children with activities such as going to the park, doing arts and crafts, baking, going swimming or trampolining.

I have also spent two summers (2014 and 2015) working at a camp in America, I was with the children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so am used to spending a lot of time with children! The children at camp were mostly aged between 6 and 16 but there were younger children on camp as young as 2. In my evaluation by the camp directors I received a rating of 9.7 out of 10. I was invited back to the same camp for my second summer, as the directors were impressed with my childcare skills and I took on extra responsibility being the Assistant Waterfront Director, ensuring the safety of all children around the pool and lake at camp.

My work as a swimming teacher in Glasgow for Making Waves and the William Young Swim School has given me experience with 2 years up to 15 years old, and has included gaining experience with children with additional needs.

I also spent the summer of 2013 working at a day nursery during the university holidays- this gave me experience with children from 6 months up to 5 years old. I was responsible for playing with the children, settling them for naps, helping them at mealtimes and taking them to the toilet.

I hold a full clean drivers license and have my own car. I am reliable, trustworthy, and enthusiastic. I can provide references and details of my police checks which are all clear.

My Qualifications

I have received safeguarding training and can provide a certificate. I also hold specific swim teaching qualifications, through this work I have gained experience working with children aged 2-16, some of whom were very scared or nervous. I am also a qualified American Red Cross lifeguard.
I hold a full DBS (police) check and am registered with the update service so can provide record of this.

My Availability

As I am now working as a teacher, I am available most evenings and weekends. I would also consider some tutoring if this is something that would interest you! I am able to be really flexible so if you wanted to enquire about specific hours I would be more than happy to chat about how I could work around you!

I have used Henrietta twice, once for an evening and once for most of the day. She is punctual and easy to communicate with regarding sorting dates and times out. My children think she is wonderful and they and I would be more than happy to use Henrietta again (my daughters are looking forward to it!).
