About Me
I am an OFSTED registered child minder based on the beautiful Solway coast in Maryport
I have been a lecturer, assessor and team lead in Childcare studies at FE. I taught on both NNEB and BTec Childcare qualifications. I also hold an Early Years Teaching Degree and prior to that was a Nurse/ Midwife. My practice brings you a large knowledge base.
I am grateful to have been assessed by OFSTED as ‘Outstanding’ at every inspection since 2009.
The Pixies Den is situated in the beautiful seaside town of Maryport close to parks, the beach and on route to local schools.
The families I work with are welcomed into our family home within which the children can play eat and learn.
We cater both for early years, and after school care ( subject to availability) and are able to meet specific dietary needs such as Gluten free, Vegetarian and Vegan food and other allergy aware diets.
We are members of the Forest Childcare Association which means we pledge to have fun in an outdoor environment at least three times a week.
My Experience
I am a trained Primary teacher and have spent several years training NNEB and BTec Nursery nurse students in FE colleges. I hold an NVQ assessors award and have experience of internally and externally verifying Care NVQ's and GNVQ's. My first career path saw me trained as a Midwife and Nurse before switching to the Childcare and Education field.
I love my job and take every opportunity to update my skills. I hold a current First aid certificate, food hygeine qualifications and Safeguarding children award.
I am currently studying a Child Psychology Diploma.

My setting is open for business from 8am to 5pm from Tuesday to Friday.
I currently have full and part time places available.

Upon application, sibling discount may apply for nursery places where places are available.
I do also operate a waiting list.
