I should have listened to the other negative revie

Reviewed

I interviewed Danielle last Thursday and she came across quite well. In the interview, she mentioned that she has not had much luck with long-term work as the families she nannied for either lost their jobs or moved overseas. On the other hand, I explained to her that I have not had much luck with nannies either who cancel on me at the last minute or have fallen ill. We agreed after the interview that she will come next Tuesday for a trial to see if we would like each other. I was clear to her that of the days that I need her to work, and she made it clear she had a weekend job that she wanted to keep. I did ask her specifically if it will be too much for her to work for me for 4 days plus her weekend job but she was positive and said it's fine. I asked for her references and contacted 3 people who said positive things about her. I re-read her profile in childcare and saw the negative reviews of her not turning up. I chose to give her the benefit of the doubt as there may have been valid reasons.

Please read this review as one mom to another. So on Tuesday, she was due to start work at 8:15 am. 30 minutes before she was due to turn up, she sends me a text message to say she can't come because she realised it was too much to do 2 jobs. Totally unprofessional. She knows fully well the demands of a working mother and she informs me of her decision half an hour before she was due to start!!??!? She had the entire weekend to consider and could have given more notice than that.

I'm a soft-hearted person, and her sob stories of bad luck with families made me think I will be the one employer who would be long-term for her. I should have listened on the previous reviews her. Please, if you do take her on, do so with eyes wide opened and have a plan B.
