About Me
My name is Sarah and I am 25 years of age, I grew up around children throughout my childhood as my mother is a registered childminder. As I was growing up I developed a passion for childcare, watching my mother in her career inspired me to develop my own career in the field. I studied childcare for 7 years, I started studying childcare in school at GCSE level and continued onto college where I took my Diploma in the Early years, after this I choose to go onto university and moved away to Bristol when I was 19 years old, there I studied the BA (Hons) in Early Childhood studies, both courses enabled me to learn about equal opportunities and diversity and to accept every individual for who they are. I moved away to Cardiff and lived there for 2 years where I worked in a nursery, I decided then to move back to Cornwall as I missed my family and friends and Cornwall of course. I then took a nursery job within my town.
I am a very patient, kind and caring person. I have good communication skills; I believe listening is very important in childcare, listening to the child and their needs, listening to their parents/carers. I’m understanding, trustworthy and reliable; I believe I have a bubbly personality and a positive outlook. I can communicate very well with parents/carers, developing an understanding of what they feel they want for their child, I follow routines set by parents/carers and report to parents/carers of how their child/children have been whilst in my care.
I am very experienced with childcare from the ages of 0-8 years and specialise between the ages of 6months – 2 years.
My Experience
Throughout my journey so far I have developed childcare experience through being around my mother as I was growing up watching her look after many children over the years, also having jobs within the field and taking the courses I have taken I have learnt the development of a child from the ages of 0-8 years, I’ve learnt the importance of play, the relationships children develop, attachment theories, the crucial years, the developmental stages. I have a wide knowledge of children in the early years and looked into many studies whilst studying for my degree, learning that each child is different from the next in the way that they learn and develop in many different stages.
My Qualifications
The qualifications that I hold are:
BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies – graduated with a second class (lower division- 2:2),
AS levels in Sociology and Psychology Sociology E, Psychology E,
BTEC National Diploma in Early Years Distinction, Merit, Merit.
Pediatric first aid completed May 2012
I am CRB checked completed May 2012,
NCFE level 1 Certificate in Drug Awareness – completed December 2006, Foundation Certificate in Food hygiene – completed June 2005,
Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety in the workplace – completed September 2003.
My Availability
I am available to work full time hours and i can start as soon as possible and I am available for all types of childcare from the ages of 0-8 years. I can provide chlildcare in your home.
