About Me
My name is Rachel and I am a childminder registered with CIW. I live in the Llanishen area of Cardiff. I am a single mum to my 12 year old daughter. I aim to offer a home from home environment where children feel part of the family and can thrive. My home is spacious and geared around the needs of the children I care for with plenty of toys and activities for all ages and stages of development. Children are helped to learn through play in line with the foundation phase guidelines. Having learnt Welsh to a good level I am able to offer stories and activities through the medium of Welsh. I have a large secure garden to the rear with a variety of outdoor toys which the children use under my supervision. I take the children to various activities such as soft play sessions, messy play, ti a fi/mother & toddler groups and outings to the park (weather permitting!)
We have 2 rabbits who live in the garden.
I have held my (clean) driving licence for 32 years and have a car with suitable child restraints for various ages.
My Experience
I have been childminding since 2007 and prior to that was a nanny for 16 years so have extensive childcare experience having worked with children ranging in age from birth to 11 years. I am experienced in all areas of children's learning and development. I have previously helped on a voluntary basis in a Welsh preschool.
My Qualifications
I hold an NVQ Level 3 in children's care, learning and development.
I have successfully completed the Cache Introduction to Home Based Childcare course.
I have an up to date paediatric first aid certificate.
I have completed basic and advanced child protection training.
I am fully DBS (formerly CRB) checked and my service is registered with food standards

I have undertaken training in food hygiene, behaviour management and early years nutrition and regularly attend courses to update my training.
I have experience of caring for children with dairy allergies.
I have learnt Welsh and am almost fluent.
I am regularly inspected by CIW and the inspection reports are available for you to read.
My Availability
My core hours are 8am - 5.45pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. I currently only offer school wrap around on a Wednesday and I’m not available on weekends.
I will have 1 pre school space available on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday from September 2024
I can offer drop offs/pick ups for both Ysgol Y Wern and Cylch Meithrin Rhiwbina.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.75 per hour
£5.75 per hour with a minimum 6 hours per session for pre schoolers
£15 flat rate for school pick up (to 5.30pm)/£20 morning drop off and afternoon pick up
Snacks and drinks inc. in hourly rate
I accept childcare vouchers, tax free childcare from HMRC and am registered to provide the childcare offer free childcare hours
