About Me
Hello, we are a married couple with 2 daughters. Both of us are OFSTED registered and ICP qualified and both have had relevant first aid training in addition to both holding Diplomas in Home-Based Childcare. We moved to Portishead in August 2012 and currently have some places available, including the High Down school run.
We currently have some vacancies on the school run (which is a very short walk from our house with no road crossing involved).
We are based in our home and offer an individual and 'home from home' style of childminding which combines educational and developmental activities and outings with the individual needs of the children. One of the outings that we do regularly is to "Jungle Tots" at Noah's Ark and in the school holidays we like to go to Clevedon Pier, Dyrham Park and Tyntesfield (amongst other places!).
We have an enclosed and secure garden with a secure gate to open fields behind the house - perfect for kite flying and nature trails in the summer and sledging in the snow in the winter! We often have caterpillars that we release as butterflies in the summer in addition to harvesting the potatoes. Our garden also has a variety of outdoor toys including ride-in cars, a sandpit and a playhouse.
We use a software system that allows parents to log in from their own computers to view daily diaries and photographs of their children (it is encrypted and password protected). This is an interactive service that allows parents to add comments too which means that we can keep up to date with each other and the parents can have as much input into the day to day care as possible. We also use a mobile phone app that we offer the use of to parents which means that we can keep them updated with pictures and comments throughout the day. We have found that this is reassuring for parents, especially when they are leaving their children with us in the early days.

T&D have looked after our toddler for almost 2 years. We are moving out of the area but will now hold T&D as the gold standard to compare other childminders to. They are very competent and we felt extremely safe in placing our son in their care. They have cared for our son very well with regards to food (he loves their meals and snacks) and also in terms of entertainment (trips out and games) as well as education (fostering speaking and reading skills). Their house and activities that they organise impressed us as well. My son gets on very well with T&D and their children - we are rather sad to be leaving the area as it means losing them as childminders. I would highly recommend T&D as childminders to any parent in the portishead area!
