My names is Emily Sargent, I am 26 and have graduated from my Special and Inclusive Education and Early Years degree at Nottingham Trent University. I spent 5 years working at a college with students that have special needs, I currently work as a residential care worker in a children’s home.
I'm the second oldest of 6 siblings, so am experienced in managing chaos! I'm creative, love animals and am passionate about the holistic well-being of children.
My Experience
I worked for 3 years at a special needs play-scheme, and as a carer.
Before this I did some agency work at a special needs primary school.
Throughout the 1st and 2nd year of my degree I volunteered at Scope and worked 1 to 1 with learners with various additional needs.
I worked closely with a family who had recently moved from Italy, and collaborated with my supervisor, a social worker and many other agencies to ease the transition for the family, helping with housing, disability and legal benefits and putting assessments in place.
I have a wealth of personal experience as I actively look after two siblings under 11, and have a younger brother with special needs and I have a very active role in his care and well-being.
