About Me

Hello, my name is Lois. I am 26 years old and I am a fully qualified Norland Nanny living in Cheltenham. I have recently become a mum to my gorgeous little girl Sienna, who as born in February 2023. I am currently available for babysitting evenings and weekends.

Having been passionate about childcare and caring for others from a young age, being a Norlander has been an aim of mine for as long as I can remember. Since graduating from Norland college, I have had long term full and part time nanny positions and I am furthering my career in childcare by completing a play therapy course with a passion to support children's mental health and wellbeing.

Before starting Norland, I spent a lot of time gaining as much valuable experience as possible to ensure I am well equipped for my career. I have worked and volunteered in a range of different settings including nurseries, pre-schools, family home and abroad to create an insight into different chapters of a child’s life and resulting in experience with children from the ages of 6 weeks to 11 years old. I see myself as an approachable, kind, caring and easy-going person who takes my job seriously and ensure that the children in my care are as safe and as happy as possible. I like to make sure that I spend my time as a nanny planning, creating and carrying out stimulating and developmental activities for the children in my care as well as going on day trips, outings and spending time outdoors.

Outside of my career I enjoy going to the gym and swimming, socialising with my friends and family, whether it be going shopping, to the cinema or on a day trip or country walk with my dog!

My Experience

At the age of 13 I participated in an organised school trip to Sri Lanka. The trip was organised in order to help re- build parts of primary and secondary schools which were hit by the tsunami. I also took out donated resources and helped to teach in English workshops and organised sporting activities to help the children recover emotionally.

Following my return I started volunteering at a local play scheme set up by the community church. This was ran weekly during term time and then two separate one week summer holiday camps for children aged 4-11 years old.

For four years I was a young leader at a local Brownies group for girls aged 6-10. By doing this, I have gained valuable experience in working as part of a team, organising and running children’s activities, leading by, and setting, examples and developing my presentation skills. I have also learnt health and safety procedures, and ensured that they were applied throughout. After turning 18 I worked on my adult leadership for girl-guiding, which involved planning evenings for the brownies, creating newsletters for the parents, participating in district planning meetings and preparing the older brownies for the next step of girl-guiding.

Alongside my a levels I worked part time as bank staff at a local nursery taking shifts between and after lessons. This involved working in all aged rooms from 3 months to 4 years old.

I moved to Bath at the age of 18 to train at Norland college, throughout my time at Norland I added to my childcare experience immensely through placements and part time work to help fund my studies. I was part of a holiday nannying agency where I was lucky enough to travel the world whilst doing a job I love.

I completed my newly qualified nanny year with a little boy who was 17 months old, I started when he was 9 months old. I had the absolute joy and pleasure in watching him grown and develop over the months. I enjoyed building a bond with him and most importantly having so much fun. We attended weekly classes and also had lots of play dates which I feel is important to do, I prepared, and cooked all of his food and did his laundry.

Since then I have had a range of full and part time jobs in and around the Cotswolds as a nanny.

Lois nannied for our 2 boys (2 and 4 years) for 2 weeks in April 2016, firstly as sole charge then with us on holiday.

Lois showed a level of care and maturity beyond her age, she cared for the boys excellently, kept them entertained indoors on wet days, outdoors on sunny days, as well as on long car journeys. She cooked for them, took care of their household needs, safety and discipline. Always ready with a change of clothes (potty training) or a towel (on the beach), meals were prepared in good time. She selected toys intelligently and continued their learning and education through reading and play. She soon took on board our lifestyle and children’s needs using her initiative such that extra food was always ready in the fridge to take on trips, day bags already packed.

Lois fitted in with the family excellently, always punctual and well presented. She followed our instructions with regard to the children’s routine, diet and limits closely.

We would thoroughly recommend Lois to anyone looking for a kind, attentive, well mannered (and well spoken) nanny.

We would call on Lois again should the need arise.
